  1. Plugin: Towny

    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.

      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.

    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.

I think that towny makes minecraft. Without it, griefing is endless. Unfortunatley I've been fighting a 3 month battle with towny. It constantly sets the mayor of our main city to null and puts it in ruins. This last time towny lasted 3days(its longest strech so far), and then I log in to find null as the mayor again swith zero plots. Could I possibly get a version of towny that doesn't allow the possibility of null being the mayor or the possibility of falling into ruins? A version that only allows players to build and destroy in their plots and still allows them to open doors and use buttons out of there plots? I'd buy somthing like that, but I can't deal with this mayor null situation. I've had techs on it for the last 3 months and short of having someone rewrite the whole plugin(I don't know anyone who could), I'm stuck.

I think the latest release of towny has the pvp flag turn on for th plots under attack, I know shadeness was putting that in.

This is new to me, any ideas how it manages to do that? Crash? Funny name? Mayor fucking around?

hey im hosting a server and trying to install towny can u give me a easy step by step tutorial and when i try to install it it says java error or something please help
  5. Offline

I have no idea how it does it. At first we though towny had an issue with a map that had errors. Then we though it might be a limit to plot size somewhere in the program for any one town. In the end, no one knows it seem, but we'd sure like to take its ability away to do that.

There are install instructions linked in the main post. Download the dev release, also linked in the main post and use it.

The war stuff is still quite bugged from back in the day. I think work on the war overhaul is starting this week.
  7. I figured it out, I had CommandDisabler plugin to remove /pl and that plugin basically adds a wildcard to the end of the disabled commands so players can't trick each other to use /killrate (where only /kill gets processed).
The /pl commands shows a list of my plugins to all the users, which I cannot disable now if I want to /plot.
I don't suppose there is an easy way to alias a command? Maybe I would use /lot instead of /plot.

I might ask a stupid question but, I have disabled for people to build and destroy in the wild. But i want them to allow them specific blocks. Like stones and ores. Is this possible with towny

Are there any way to see the last tax amount? Like checking on the income?
I could find the info on older versions of towny in the server log...

sorry, but i dont understand how to use /plot command,. Is it posible to make plot like in this what i made: [IMG]

Thats all I get when I reload. In the CONFIG I have it so it takes 50 a day and taxes are 25 and nothing.

Apparently its based off of Town size for upkeep.

WAIT.. it takes money every HUMAN day? I thought it was every minecraft day..

Already done, the list of block IDs you'll allow players to affect is in the world's file in plugins\towny\data\worlds\worldname.txt

Just add any block ids you want players to affect.

Its still in your server log, search for "new day"

The plots are claimed from a pre-existing grid. You need to align your fences with the plots.

Is there a command that removes locked chests/furnaces from the plot? Like /plot clear removes locked signs.

Owning a town that has more than 60 residents and 80 plots it is hard to manage everything and have to call an admin to remove locked chests/furnaces.

Is there a command that allows mayors and only mayors to remove locks from items? This way when a player quits or joins another town their items aren't left there forever or until an admin comes?

Which plugin are you locking your chests and furnaces with?

I wanna thank the people on the IRC for all the help they gave me, but I have a problem. I made a town, then I installed Towny. I've claimed the area around the town, now I want to set the small sand areas as shop plots, and the big ones as house plots. I can't work out where to start with this, please help D:
  19. Offline

It's not Towny causing your mobs to be removed.

All plots are the same size.

Okay, but how do I know exactly where to put the plot? How do I set where the plot goes (e.g set an area like you would in WorldEdit) I can change plot sizes for them all to be the same.

How can i do so that
/plot set perm friend on - is default? So that every resident need to type that command standing on each plot...
    I have:
    Default Town/Plot flags
    build: 'true'
    destroy: 'true'
    item_use: 'true'
    switch: 'true'

When a friend is trying to destroy something on another added friends ground it says:
Owner doesn't allow friends to destroy...

My town got deleted. Not only that but all the blocks in the town got reset to how they were before i created the town. Here was the error: Btw i have all the latest towny plugins and build 1337.

    2011-10-23 07:01:42 [INFO] Creating empty config: C:\Users\(my name)\Desktop\server\plugins\Essentials\userdata\town_groton.yml
2011-10-23 07:01:45 [WARNING] [Towny] Error: Could not create backup.

If you could tell me how to get the town back (i got the name, residents and options of the town back using the backups) or to prevent this in the future, that would be nice.
  27. Offline

You'll have to rollback your server if you want your town's blocks back.

Disable the revert on unclaim feature with this

I really couldn't say why you got " [WARNING] [Towny] Error: Could not create backup."

Pastebin.com your full server startup, all the plugins loading.

LWC isn't supported as that would require Towny to affect the LWC database.

Join again and stick around for a bit.

You don't set a cuboid a la WG/WE, the cells are arranged on the grid. You claim the plot that you stand in when you type the command. Moving around, you'll see a message when you move from wilderness to town.

A player uses the /res set perms blahblah on/off command to set the defaults for any future plot claims they make.

If the plot is already claimed and doesn't allow friends to build/destroy, the owner stands in the plot and uses /plot set perm friend {blah} on/off.

Is it possible to make it a default option, so that all resident have to turn it off if they dont want it...
Im just trying to do so that all new (to the server) have to type as few commands at start as possible.

Im pretty sure that before last night. New guys only needed to type /resident friend add name to allow friends to blah not the resident set perms nor /plot set perm friend blah...
