Bungee cord is a separate instance the runs which if set up with your bukkit server(s) lets you move between them. You need more than one server so that you can actually move between them, and one for running bungee cord. The actual bukkit servers do not need to be changed (much), go to spigotmc.org to read more about bungeecord.
