    Hello,

Could someone explain the need and use of the "worlds" folder? The tutorials specifically say "Move your worlds to the worlds folder", i get the how and if's in all of this, what i don't get, is the use of the worlds folder to begin with?

If i create a worlds folder and leave it empty and leave my real world as is by default, in the root location, it works just fine, if i move the world named "world" to the worlds folder, it breaks.

    What gives?

    HELLo,

I have been following https://bukkit.gamepedia.com/Setting_up_a_server which leads to the INIT script at https://github.com/Ahtenus/minecraft-init which specially mentions this scenario.

Minecraft won't actually start at all using that init script if the worlds folder doesn't exist, but it works fine being empty, i'm not following the purpose of it at all, and new logic and based on your response, then i'm starting to think that the worlds folder is not native Minecraft or Bukkit logic at all?

@Bugz It is an alternative version.
Bukkit works fine without it, he just added a wrapper for the server.
Bukkit normally stores the worlds next to the server jar.
