@iPhysX Well...Bukkit Help appears to be for help with the bukkit software vs. forum. This is the feedback forum. Since I can't send a message or create a new thread without getting an invalid message error (since there is no message field on the form), I have no choice but to post on an existing one. @lukegb feel free to remove these posts after you address the issue. Thx.

The current forum category this forum is in: BukkitDev Information and Feedback
    BukkitDev is dev.bukkit.org

But I think the most appropriate forum that your question would be categorized under is Bukkit Help.

    Back to the topic:

It's really strange, as all my files here are labeled as semi-normal.
And the latest one here is also semi-normal.

    I guess this is a bug/glitch?

My JAR files are listed as semi-normal as well, even though they are identical to other peoples files listed as normal. Why is this?

    @EvilSeph
Are you going to do something about this or at least react to it?
I've noticed that all files are regarded as semi-normal.

Not all files, there are many JAR's from other people who are listed as Normal! I've downloaded them to see their format, and it's exactly what mine is.

Newly (As in the last month) uploaded files?

it appears the problems stems around the CB 1.0.1-R1 release. All files after that is flagged semi-normal.
So either they updated bukkit dev at that time which messed up something, or they have a problem with their state checking code. It could be a problem detecting the state based on the CB build. Since the old versioning was 3-4 digits, now it's including dots, dashes and a letter R. So it could easily be a Regex problem,or it could be a mess up when they updated the site to include the CB 1.0.1-R1 release.

    @EvilSeph , @EvilSeph, @EvilSeph
Does it help getting your attention if I flag you 3 times??????

Flagging him 3 times wont help, its just being annoying. As for why it is semi-normal I have no idea but if you are not getting the answers you want here try the irc.

All of my files have been set as semi-normal recently. I honestly don't care that much , people seem top be able to download them.

I know it's annoying but he has already been flagged 3 times in this 1 month old thread, even by moderators/administrators, and @lukegb has also been flagged a couple of times. @EvilSeph is the only one dealing with BukkitDev so he is the one to catch attention.

Now he has just been flagged again.

Like I said, if your not getting a response try the bukkitdev irc. And as for semi-normal does it really matter that much? I am pretty sure it only happens cause 1.0.1-R1 was basically a stable dev version that was pushed out cause of demand.

1.0.1-R1 was pushed out because it was regarded as a stable recommended build... All recommended builds are stable dev builds that is regarded is stable enough for mass use.
I'm not jumping on bukkitdev irc. This is a long going issue.
It creates lots of problems for download apps/plugins that should only regard files flagged as normal to be downloaded... Any file flagged not flagged as normal should really not be auto downloaded by anything... Also the Curse client only handles files flagged as normal....
So yeah, this is an issue....

Side note to you, I've been here ranting and trying to communicate with the Bukkit dev for a long time. Months before you even joined this forum I've had several discussions with the team, also on the channel.

In other news: I'm probably one of the people in here advocating my disgust the most regarding how the Bukkit team handles and responds to problems with BukkitDev, and I have also done so on the IRC chan... I'm a BukkitDev hater. Because Bukkit team have next to zero control over BukkitDev ;)

Pinging EvilSeph over and over again probably won't get a response from him, we're talking about the guy who accidentally pings himself 20+ times in his own posts.

That said, I personally do not know exactly what causes a file to be marked "Semi-Normal" on BukkitDev. I have noticed that older files tend to turn from "Semi-Normal" to "Normal" but I do not know the cause, or if this trend is consistent. I'll try to find out what's going on here.

Of course, the bigger point here to make is that while a file may be marked "Semi-Normal" it really does not matter, as it can still be downloaded just the same as a "Normal" file. There is no need to worry over it.

    Edit:
I'm not aware of any Curse client that's out there actively downloading files from BukkitDev? I could be just ignorant, but I don't see the problem at the moment although I know it will be in the future.

I'm open to hearing complaints if you want to PM me. I'm not exactly a fan of BukkitDev myself, but that's just my personal opinion.

Thanks, I think I was bit to quick on the trigger with the Curse Client, however that reminds me that I don't understand why Curse Client doesn't yet support BukkitDev... Whatever ;)

I think somewhere around half of my posts (A bit exaggeration, but not far off) is either suggestions for improvements on BukkitDev, explaining BukkitDev to people or ranting on Rigsby and EvilSeph (Notice no tag) about BukkitDev.

I've been spending way to much time in here hating and waiting on something to happen with BukkitDev to really bother any more, I'm questioning why I spend time writing these posts ;)

I'm way more comfortable with Spout (Where you are also getting quite acquainted with).

I just hope that some day ES might wake up and face the fact that BukkitDev is just plain and simple wrong, which is what I've been advocating since day one. I like the overall concept of what BukkitDev was trying to achieve, but absolutely no changes have happened to BukkitDev since release (Except a combobox to choose build version, fixing 1 or 2 bugs, and lately linking account).

    I'll stop rambling now ;)

It honestly seems like right there you are trying to show off or something. Regardless of how long you've been here or how many times you have made similar topics about ways to improve or change BukkitDev it still does not change that spamming pings to people isn't going to help your cause. If you are so against using the IRC then I have no idea what to tell you, try and be patient. I am sure he has something going on that makes it so he can not be on 24/7 to answer to the whims of every bukkit user.

Well okay, so my file is a .jar, and semi-normal?! It's a jar you put in plugins and load up... Seams normal...

Can EvilSeph just answer already?! I'm on 1.3.1 R1.0 and still no answer!!

semi-normal is the standard designation for files of this type.

Where is the best place to comment on the latest dev builds ?

    Anyway
[INFO] This server is running CraftBukkit version git-Bukkit-1.3.1-R1.0-12-g4d27cb0-b2329jnks (MC: 1.3.1) (Implementing API version 1.3.1-R1.1-SNAPSHOT)

seems to be running smoothly. Have also loaded the latest spoutcraft build and they are playing nicely .
