I have been wanting to give out players on my server the ability to protect their area. I would like it if you can give some tips on what I can do to enable this. I seen some good ones and want to know is the best that you use. Also I would like it easy to see where the borders of the area are with ease. I have seen Grief Prevention and with some others like PreciousStones. I want to know what do you use. Also any help on which ones are better than others.

Worldguard will cover all your needs.
  3. What about Towny or Clans? Worldguard for a vanilla protection plugin too.

WorldGuard would be the best (but rather complicated). However, you can get somewhat the same functionality from the Factions plugin. Players can join guilds/factions and then claim land. Then anyone in that faction with permissions can edit it. I suppose each individual could set it up but it would require them to create seperatate factions. Try it out, you might like it. WorldGuard works ok but IMO you have to set up too many permissions and Iv'e noticed a few loopholes.

I use GriefPrevention. It's really nice for large servers that need players to do it themselves.

Towny is good for survival, PlotMe is great for creative.
