    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Addons:
    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

It looks like Residence has a problem with the new World.createExplosion(Location, int) API in Bukkit:

Well if you turn the creeper flag to true, it will disable block damage and player damage just fine. It works but I just wanted creepers to be able to damage the players just not destroy the environment.

I can replace WorldGuard with this mod if block damage could be turned off.

What's the difference between this and WorldGuard? It seems like it does everything WorldGuard does.

The only thing I see is that I wouldn't have god mode or the heal command if I switched over. But I think it makes up for it with everything this plugin does.

Would this plugin work with Essentials economy? I'm thinking about moving over to Essentials because it has a lot of things I want.

The difference is that many plugins work directly through/with WorldGuard, and not Residence.

I use Essentials with iConomy and this mod, and everything works fantastically. The block damage thing is a bit annoying but other than that, it is awesome. I like this better than WorldGuard since this allows for single areas to be more than just a cuboid. I can add multiple cuboids to the same region and they all have the same flags and entry/leave messaging. For example, my starting town is mostly rectangular but I have a bridge going across water to an island with a huge harbor. I made 3 cuboids and added them all to the "Town" region.

    @bekvon
I was thinking about creating an addon for Residence to be able to use signs for the market part of the mod.
    Example:
If you owned land and set a place to rent. You could place a sign within the cuboid (ie; like next to the front door) that had [Rent] as the top line of the sign. When you place the sign with that word in brackets, it would color the top line as blue (if you did it right and cuboid is indeed for rent) and add other info to the other lines like so:
The second line would be automatically put in by the server showing the price per(/) how many days for renting.
The third line would automatically put the owner's name in.
The forth line would be blank until a renter right clicks the sign to the rent the property. Right-clicking a [Rent] sign would be the same as doing "/res market rent ResidenceName".

Obviously, the same could be done with selling property as well but just leave out RentersName and replace [Rent] with [ForSale].

I was wondering if the Residence API would allow info like owner's name and pricing be pulled from another script. Of course, I'm pretty sure it's possible to make right clicking a [Rent] sign to basically send the command: /res market rent ResidenceName

So if there's a plugin that requires WorldGuard I could always just have WorldGuard there so it will run but not actually have to use WorldGuard? Because I've seen a server using both plugins and was wondering why.

A new dev build is out that adds in the ability to change almost all the text in Residence (error messages, etc...) to whatever you want. I'm calling it the Language Localization system, because it also allows for Residence to be translated into different languages now. Upon first run of the new dev build, a Languages folder will be created under the Residence config folder. The default English.yml will also be placed there. If you want to make a new language file, copy the English.yml to a new name, and then modify it there however you want to. Then go into your Residence config, and under the Global: section, add/change "Language: English" to "Language: <your language file name>" leaving off the .yml part of the filename. The new help system is also down at the bottom of the language file, which isn't completely written yet (code is done, just not all the help text). I hope to get that written before I release this dev version as a new release version :) Let me know of any bugs or issues with the new Language system you find.

Hmm, ok looks like a null exception, let me add some null checks to the explosion code to try to deal with this. What CB version was the under by the way?

I'm playing around with Permissions 3.X, it may be the reason its not working for you. I'm having a few issues with it myself (although it may just be me doing something dumb because I'm not familer with it yet :) ) I'll keep playing around with it and let you know if I come up with anything.

I like this idea :D Most of this should be possible already :) You can pull the residence owner and renters name pretty easy, but it looks like I'm missing a simple "get cost per day" function from the Rent manager.... Il see about adding that in the dev version real quick so that it will be in the next release :)

I'm having two problems... I can't seem to figure out how to make my server town with rentable houses give renters use rights. I know I can use pset, but I'd rather not have to do that everytime someone wants to rent. Am I missing something? I just want to make the use flag false for everyone but admins and the renter.

Not sure if this is a problem, but I can't seem to use /resadmin for all commands. I can use the command for lease set, setowner, and server but not for other /res commands. I was hoping to create subzones (for about 20 areas in town) with /resadmin so they are automatically set to be owned by "server land". Edit: This is no longer a problem in v2.2.1

Also, when I use "/res info" in a residence, it gives the information but also an internal server error.

    Edit 2:
It's only giving the server error for "/res info" for my top area (Town), but if i do that command while standing inside of a subzone: it won't give an error. How weird... hope that helps.

I rented out a house with a regular player and when that player used "/res market release", it removed them from the rent and house BUT it wouldn't let him rent from anywhere else saying he's reached the max rents. (I have max rents for him set to 1)

BTW, I'm sorry for so many posts. Hopefully I'm not annoying.

With no errors given, Residence loves to erase its Residences. Just resets res.yml to default.

Happens when you make any changes via command.

Well, I can easily see whats wrong, but the question is how did it get that way....
Anyway, delete the "Town" entry under "Leases" of your res.yml:
    Code:
    Leases:
        Town: {}

Its supposed to have a number after it, but for some reason it just has the {} which is wrong.... Wonder if theres somthing messed up with the bukkit YML handler, or if theres somthing wierd in my code... I'll look into it :) I'm going to add a workaround for it in the next dev version so that if this happens again to someone else, the code can handle it :)

It looks like your using the BukkitContrib plugin, and its not updated for CraftBukkit version your using. See if there's a update for BukkitContrib. :)
While it is indeed possible to add them, I probably won't be doing it because quite honestly, its more math then I can handle or have time to learn :p I may be able to do it eventually, but no promises there :)

I'll take a look at it, its supposed to stay within your allowed limits, but there may be a bug with it.

Just gonna throw this out there, the pistons can be used to grief. If a player places a piston outside a residence, he can still push blocks into that residence, and destroy the stuff. Granted, its only 12 blocks...but that's actually a big deal for populated servers.

Any idea if this will be fixed/nerfed in a future version of Residence?
