    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"
    • Added global Ignorelists which allow certain block types to become unprotectable for the whole world / for a specific user group.

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.
    • New Global CreatorDefault / GroupDefault / ResidenceDefault flag sections to help clean up the Groups section, and remove redundant flags.

Having difficulty getting this working properly. I ahve a base permissions group that other groups are inherited from. This base group has residence.create, which seems to allow them to use the /res create command. However, I can't be sure of this since they don't have permissions for anything else. I've tried setting the default group in the residence config to baseClass (the group name), but that still doesn't work. Help?

Also, I'd like it if admin commands needed to be /resadmin or something, since I would like to actually play on my server, not just run it, which includes paying for stuff.

That worked! Thank you so much :)
Another thing, When I have the iConomy enabled in residence, it charges me for claiming an area, however, I don't see an option to set the cost, like x per block or what.

Look for this section under the group you want to change in the config.yml

    Code:
    Economy:
              # Whether or not players in this group can buy other Residences that are for sale.
              CanBuy: true
              # Whether or not players in this group can sell their Residences.
              CanSell: true
              # Whether or not to ignore the Residence size/count limits when buying a residence.
              IgnoreLimits: false
              # The cost, per block, of buying a Residence or adding a area to it.
              BuyCost: 0.005
              # The cost, per block, of renewing a Residence lease.
              RenewCost: 0.02

    Hello,

These flags of a group doesn't work for me, any ideas ?
    Code:
#these flags are applied to this group whenever they are outside a residence
#these flags will override the flags at the top, under the Global section.
              World:
                Global:
                    container: false
    Thank You.

    hi. good plugin!

is it possible to deny access to tnt and buckets for the permission group "new", but another group may still have asccess? important is, that the groups are defined at permissions.yml from the plugin named permissions.

    cheers

Ok si im wanting to set my world so default (guests) cannot build/destroy anywhere (non /res land)
    Code:
        ResidenceFlagsInherit: true
        # These are world flags that are applied when the player is NOT within a residence.
        Flags:
Global: #these are default for all worlds unless specified below, they can be overridden per group
                use: true
                build: false
                ignite: true
                firespread: false
                damage: true
                creeper: false
                tnt: false
                pvp: true
WorldNameHere: #here you can set flags for individual worlds, these override Global
                #build: true
I understand how the above works, however is there a way to make this rank dependent? default/guest obey the above but a member rank ignore the build: false for non /res areas?

does the use flag work at all? and if not, is it throwing any errors on the console?
if the container flag is set to true by default on a residence, it will override the Global Flag.
so i take it that chests are still accessible in the open world?
you can set specific flags for certain groups (global and default flags on residences within their group settings), or you can specify a blacklist for a specific group.
    check out the wiki: http://residencebukkitmod.wikispaces.com/Set+up+and+configuration
near the bottom is the blacklists

if your using permissions the names under groups should be the same as the groups in permissions
    Code:
    Groups:
        Default: # this guy here
so if you rank up a player using permissions, they will have their global flags set to those defined under the specific residence group.

I set the lease system to false yet my server is still on it. also, admin leases are set to 999999 days, but they still default back to 14 days for no reason. This causes issues with res'd areas of the cities

When I put the flag container to false for all the worlds to the default group, they still have access to chests in the world.
And there are no errors in the console.

(Sorry for my English, I'm French).

it's all good, you speak (well type) better than most on the net who's first language is English :p
is it only in the global settings? within a normal residence does it work correctly? you may not be able to set that globally or it could be bugged. i haven't messed around with it all that much to be honest. I'll have a play with it when i get home.

Yes, with a normal residence, it work correctly.

    Code:
        Flags:
Global: #these are default for all worlds unless specified below, they can be overridden per group
            # try it here possibly?
                container: false
        # This gives permission to change certain flags to all groups, unless specifically denied to the group.
        FlagPermission:

        # These are default flags applied to all residences from any user group.
        ResidenceDefault:
            container: false
all flags default to true unless specified, so possibly set the global flag to false and then have container: true within each of the other ranks. im not sure if that will work either.

within the default config there is no example of the container flag being used in a global context.
so you may just not be able to set the flag globally, possibly only on residences.

im starting up a test server now, i'll let you know how it goes.

UPDATE: Yeah, im the same, i can't get the container flag to work globaly, use does however, but it doesn't protect chests :(
@bekvon this seems like a bug, is this expected behavior?

first error looks like an issue init'ing iConomy (can't find it), are you using iConomy 5.0.1? (error looks like it's attempting to init iCo 4 which im guessing is incompatible)
the second looks like it's failing to write out the default config, or possibly the res.yml, does the user your using to run the server have write permissions? and maybe try copy/pasting the default config.

you could create your own residence plugin that may be able to do that possibly. (res API is above :))

Love this mod - great iCoLand replacement!
One thing (possibly a request), is it possible to route all lease money collected into a specific account (AKA a server account)? I really want to preserve a closed economy feel and (if I'm not mistaken) the current lease money just sort of evaporates into nothingness.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

You can now make 'Server Land' which is residence's owned by the server. Check the wiki in command list.

Your first bug is some kinda weird iConomy thing going on. Try using iConomy 5 and see if it fixes that. The second bug is because for some reason Residence is still trying to save after it failed to initialize from the first bug (its still trying to save even though its disabled, I'll see if I can fix this).
It's not expected behavior, its probably a bug. I see if I can fix it :) Also, thanks for your help in answering other people questions :D

For your first issue, if you changed the default group to baseClass, does a baseClass configuration exist under the Residence config file's Groups section? Basically, if you change default group, you need to make sure that you change "Default" under the groups section to whatever you named your new Default group.

As for the /resadmin thing, I am thinking about requiring all admin commands to start with /resadmin in order to grant admin privileges, otherwise it will still treat admins as normal users. This is for the exact purpose you mentioned, to allow server admins to play as well as administer. Don't know when I'll get it done, but its in the works now ;)
I'll make a optional lease money account when I get time, shouldn't be hard :) Already under the rent system, all money from rented server land goes into a "Server Land" account.

The problem is that I want players to be able to claim land and then have the lease money they pay placed into a specific account (the server account). Declaring a residence server-owned does not seem to solve my problem and strips the player of ownership by default if I'm not mistaken. As of right now, it seems that any money collected from leases just sort of disappears when I would prefer it be funneled back into the economy. It would be awesome if this were possible.

    Hi, I have this-

    EnablePermissions: true
    # Enable / Disable Residence's Economy System.
    EnableEconomy: true
    # The economy system to use (iConomy, MineConomy, Essentials, BOSEconomy, and RealEconomy supported).
    EconomySystem: iConomy
    # Enables or disables the Rent System
    EnableRentSystem: false
    # The interval, in minutes, between residence rent expiration checks (if the rent system is enabled).
    RentCheckInterval: 10

And for some reason it's not taking money from anyone's iConomy account?

    Any trouble shooting suggestions?

    When I use /resreload I get

    >resreload
20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] - Saved Residences...
    20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] Disabled!
20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] Found Permissions Plugin!
20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] Successfully linked with iConomy!

20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] Enabled! Version v2.2 by bekvon
20:19:28 [INFO] [Residence] Reloaded by console.

So I believe it is linking.
