    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.

    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.

Hi, am sorry if this is obvious or has been answered before - have spent the last half hour looking for how to do it.

I want to be able to set flags for a group in residences that I make. My sister and a few others are in a group called Mario which is in the Essentials Group Manager group list. Does this not make a difference?

I am vaguely aware that I need to add a group manually to Residence's config.yml file. I don't have access to a <worldname>.yml since the host I use has a control panel not ftp access.

My brain is just really confused. I hope someone can help :)

    Hello.
Does residence even support GroupManager? I've never heard bekvon talk about it. Or is it just compatible by default as they have the same config.

That's what I mean when I wondered if it made a difference, because when I tried to set flags it said that the group did not exist. Would be nice if it was compatible with it :)

Maybe you should suggest it to bekvon, see what he says. :)

Yeah good idea :). In the meantime, would you be able to assist me? How would one add a group to residence's config which can then be assigned flags using /res gset?

  8. Offline

    Daniel Few

@duhfux I believe you can do that anyway, without setting it up in the conig. The config is used to set defaults for the different groups and decide what permissions they have.
Try this first, in-game, stand in your residence and type '/res gset [group] [flag] [true/false]'

What residence version are you using?
What craftbukkit version are you using?
I believe this was a problem someone else had, however I've never experienced it myself.

I get "Group does not exist." I guess because I haven't been able to set anything in the <worldname>.yml file?

Im sorry, what worldname.yml is this? Is that for GroupManager?
Can you use pastebin to host ur <worldname>.yml file for me to see, post the link here.

I have a problem with residence
if i create a residence or a subzone and the make /res pset <residence> <player> build true
    it often doesn´t work
the player can´t build on his residence only admins can build
How can i solve this problem

    Daniel Few

    @Minecraft:)
Is it says 'Flag Set' in the chat. This confirms that the flag has been set.
If it still doesn't work, try standing inside the residence subzone and type /res pset [player] build true (leave out the residence name as it uses the one your in.
Finally, remember that if in a subzone, the residence name will be MAINZONE.SUBZONE eg MainTown.MiningShop
If its a subzone within a subzone it will be MAINZONE.SUBZONE.SUBZONESSUBZONE

How do we buy the land? I know we register it with the wooden pickaxe, but how do you buy it with the money from iConomy, also how do we sell the land that we buy?

  16. Offline

    Daniel Few

    @Hex
As a server admin/player(if allowed to sell/buy), residence offers the ability to put land up for sale, and buy land that is on the market.

Firstly, create you residence using the selection tool and then /res create [residence] command. Also, make sure that in your config you have a economy plugin named, use economy set to true and CanBuy and CanSell set as true on the groups you want to be able to use the market.

    To put land up for
    1. Type '/res market sell [residence] [amount]'
    2. You can also stand inside the residence and just use '/res market sell [amount]' and that will put the residence your standing in on the market.
This puts your residence on the market.
    To buy that residence:
    1. Type '/res market buy [residence]
That will purchase the residence, taking the [amount] from your ballence and giving it to the player who put the residence up for sale.
Please also remember that when selling/buying a subzone, the subsones name is MainResidence.SubzoneName eg Town.House
If you have any more questions, please tag me @DanJames in your post.
    Hope this helps,

There is a creeper flag which stops creepers exploding.

    Hello!
On this part of my config im abit unsure:
    Code:
    # These groups correspond to the Permissions groups defined in your '<worldname>.yml'
    Groups:
        Member:
This is my deafult rank in my server. But it is only when Members create residences that the flags below apply. When anyone with a rank above Member does, the flags doesnt apply. Now do I need to copy that whole section and paste one for every rank above. (and change the "Member" of every to the new rank.)
Or is there a way in the config to make all the flags global, so it doesnt which rank creates it(as long as its a Member+)?
    Thank you!

I'm assuming you are using the recommended build. In the latest development build, you have the following optionI'm assuming your using the
These can be used to set flag permissions, creator defaults and non creator defaults on a global scale. Hope this helped

Yes i'm sure it will. I'm not sure when that will be though :p I've been using the development build since it came out and havent found any major problems with it yet, so i'm sure it would be fine for you to use it. It also includes rent and other cool features.
However if you do, back-up your server first just to be safe :p

    And one last question :p
Can I delete the old config, and it will make a new one? Or should I download the new configvers and replace it over the existing one?
Since im on a dedicated host with restricted rights I cant upload configs.. only jars. :/

Hmm but still in the new config there is a part for this:
    Code:
These groups correspond to the Permissions groups defined in your '<worldname>.yml'
    Groups:
        Member:
           # Information about the Residence zone that the player can define.
           Residence:
I want that the size settings and welcome/goodbye settings etc should be set for everyrank above Members too.
How do I do that, or is it gonna be set for Members+ be itself?

EDIT: NVM, solved it. Just copied the whole Member thingy with all the settings and pasted it 5 times after eachother and changed the Member to the other ranks i have on my server.
Tho you should add like a option "SettingsApplyTo:" and you can write all the permission-groups you want it to apply to. Right now I have 6 exact copies after each other to cover all my groups.

Oh ye, if you wanted those specific settings per group you did the right thing. I thought you were only interested in the flags.

HELP! I logged on to my server today, and it seems all my residences were deleted! After playing around a bit I discovered that any new Residences I create are soon deleted also. This is very frustrating (as you can imagine) not only to have lost a complex town with many subzones, but also that I can't even create anything! 1) Is there a way to revert to previous residence data? 2) What the hell is going on?

  30. Sorry i misspelt. I would like creepers to explode, and damage to occur to players and mobs, but blocks not to be destroyed, similar to if they where in water. Also I would like TNT to have this same effect, although this is less important.

    Daniel Few

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure how you would do that. You'll have to ask bekvon :).
Sorry I can't be any more help,
    -DanJames

Ok, well firstly calm down :) take a deep breath. *In* *Out* *In* *Out*. Ok did that help?

Now, go to your residence folder in the plugins directory. Right click on res.yml and open with notepad++ or another text editor. Check to see if you have any residence's listed in there. If they are still on your world, this should be full with all the information about each residence.

If not, then it looks as though they have been removed. I don't understand why people are experiencing this problem as I never have :/

Are you using the latest recommended build? Also, what craftbukkit version re you using?
    -DanJames

EDIT: Yes, GmK just reminded me, however you do not want to 'set' the lease rate, you want to disable it. In your config file of Residence, look for UseLeaseSystem and set it to : false.
