    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.

    @bekvon
I have a couple of ideas, don't know if any can be done.

    1. When I create a residence as an admin and rent it, and a Default user rents that residence, they get the +admin flag.
    2. Would you be able to add a exception list to the Build=False flag for the world. I want Build=False but certain block to be destroyable. If that makes sense :/
    3. Would you be able to allow sub-zones to have multiple areas?
    4. Do you think you would be able to add server owned land? If not, if I made residences under my users, DanJames, and then went into res.yml and changed the Owner to ServerLand, would that work? As long as I gave ServerLand some money by editing IConomy table so they can gain money in Rent.
    5. Even though I have EnableLeaseSystem: False, it still says when making a residence 'Your lease will expire...'.

    That's my latest testing/suggestions :p
I thought there were a couple more, I'll post them when I remember them.
Sorry to be a pain, just some ideas :).

Hey i have the latest version of Bukkit(803) and the latest version of Residence.
Problem is that residences are removed after a period of time less than that of the lease time.
Also what are the permissions nodes?
Some people also get No Economy or something when doing market commands.

    EDIT:
On creating a residence it says. No Economy Interface yet i have iConomy installed and set to use iconomy.

Can you please paste your config file so I can see how you've got it set up.
Are you using the latest recommended build or the latest dev build?
A lot of those problems bekvon has fixed I'm sure. But I'll see what I can do.
I've just done a lot of testing on the latest dev build so I hope I can fix your problems :)

It should generate the save file when the server shuts down (or upon the auto-save). Can you tell me if you have any errors on your server console / log file? Also, do other plugins that generate config files work properly?

This is a planned feature, but no you can't apply it only to specific residences right now. You can apply it only to specific worlds or player groups, just not yet to Residences.

    1. They should already get the admin flag when its rented... that was one of the last tweaks I made before releasing v2.1.
    2. I still need to setup a ignorelist type of blacklist, that will cause certain block types to be completly ignored from Residence protections (basically unprotectable blocks). That will come soon hopefully :)
    3. This should be already possible, you should be able to use the same /res area commands to manipulate subzone areas. One note though, all subzone areas must still remain within their parent zone, and also the person making those areas must still have "subzone" permission for the parent area (or be the owner).
    4. This is also still planned, although something like your solution may actually be what I implement... The owner name for server land will be "Server Land" with a space once it gets implemented, the space is there to ensure that no player could get a minecraft account named ServerLand and get all that money heh :)
    5. Thats a bug that I found, fixed it in the dev version. What was happening is the LeaseAutoRenew option was overwriting the UseLeaseSystem option instead. So to temporarily fix it, set LeaseAutoRenew to false or just get the dev build :)

I did find a issue with the lease system that is partially related to your problem. The LeaseAutoRenew setting was basically overwriting the UseLeaseSystem option instead of being its own option. This means, that it was impossible for lease auto-renewal to be enabled. This doesn't seem to be the problem you were having though. The lease system runs entirely off of the system clock, and so if that changes it will affect the lease system. Other then that, I'm not really sure, how much sooner was the residence removed then should have been?

As for your economy problem, I'm going to assume you have already made sure that EnableEconomy is set to true in the config. What kind of message does residence put out when your server starts? Does it say successfully linked with iConomy or somthing else? Also, what iConomy version are you using. This should support both 4 + 5, but support for 5 is less tested since its newer.

What version of residence are you using? Recommended Build or Development Build?
I have been testing the Development Build and enter/leave messages on subzones works. Just stand inside the subzone and use '/res message [enter/leave] [message]' command. I don't know if there is a problem with this on Recommended.
    -DanJames

    @bekvon
So would the ignorelist just let blocks destroyable in ANY residence thats on those lists?
If possible can you make this per residence? I don't know how easy that is.

I've got a residence around my towm, and all buyable land/rentable properties are subszones. I want that main zone to allow the destroying off tree, ironore, coalore, diamondore, sand, gravel, clay, redstoneore but everything else is build=false. However, if these blocks are placed inside a subzone, i do not want them to be destroyable.

Does that make any sense AT ALL? Lol
So atm is there no way to do this?

Thanks fort the update to API, I'm not getting that error anymore. Just need to fix the scheduler now, howeever doors still don't seem to be shutting :p I'll have a look at that later and hopefully post it today.

This may sound like a VERY silly question, but do you have IConomy installed?
Also, are you sure IConomy is set-up correct eg. have you been using it with other plug-ins?
The only other thing that may be interfering is that EnablePermissions is set to False. I'm not sure if you need permissions enabled on residence for IConomy to work.

    Yes i have iConomy.
I set it to false because i do not know the permission nodes and no one could use any commands. xD
iConomy works fine with other plugins ie. BetterShop.

There are only 2 permission nodes, the rest is set-up in the config.
    The permission nodes are:
    1. residence.admin - gives all admin privileges as well as the ability to by-pass all restrictions
    2. residence.create - allows the creation of a residence
I would suggest trying to set permissions to TRUE, and give your default users 'residence.create' and see if that helps.

Im kinda lost here. I have tried to create a residence but I keeps saying that I am over my area size limit. I am in the Default group in permissions and I even tried to set the default limits to a very large number and It still says that. Any suggestions? Running 803 on Ubuntu 11.04. No conflicting plugins that I am aware of.

Edit: I think I got it now. I was using vert to select my height because I didn't know of the expand command. Seems all is well now that Im not trying to take over everything lol

    I use bukkit v.803.

Can I somehow block the use of buckets in the residence, because the griefers somehow fill it with water or lava?

  18. Offline

    Daniel Few

Yes you can, and you have two options.
    1. In the 'global' flags, set 'buckets: false' (not sure if it's bucket or buckets and i'm also not sure if this can be applied the world.
    2. Blacklist buckets at the bottom of the config.yml.
    Hope this helps,

  19. Hi @all,

i've got a little problem mit Residence.
It works fine, it's great, i love it, but we've got server-lag (message inside console and ingame) since 2 days.
I registered an area of 300x300 with a high from bedrock to sky and 8 more areas with just 6x5 and height of 4.
There are no errors, everything worka great, but the lag :(
Is it possible, that Residence and BigBrother are a little to much for the minecraft-performance?
Anyone else mentioned this problem before?

I hope someone can help me! ;)

    *edit*
I think it's a problem with the movecheckinterval!
But it's at 1000 in my config :/

    Daniel Few

    @Terra-Network.org
Are there many people coming in/out your residence. You may want to check in config for:
    MoveCheckInterval: 500
The lower this is, the quicker residence picks up on players in the wrong place. However, if set to, for example, 1, it would be checking every milisecond and can cause server lag. 500 is a good balance.
    -DanJames

  21. I tested it with 1000 and no there are not many players, just 2 online while testing and i got the lag-message while moving through on of the small residences. When the console-message came, we got some lag ingame.
    So strange :(

    @
That's not a residence error or any other plugin. It's a fault with MC. I've heard a good way to fix it is to do the following (i think just the server needs to do this):

    Windows 7:
    1. Click on windows clock in system tray
    2. 'Change date and time settings...'
    3. Goto tab 'Internet Time'
    4. 'Change settings...'
    5. [x] Syncronise with an Internet time server - tick that box
    6. Server: time.windows.com
    7. 'Update now'
It stops the messages sometimes. The other thing to check is are you supplying enough memory to the server. Right click on your batch (.bat) file and edit with your text editor.
I have a 4gb. So i set that to ' -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M' both to 1024. Maybe you should try that.

I didn't quite understand your post.
If the question is 'can two people rent a property' then the question is no. Also there can not be two owners of a resdidence either. However you can make a residence and give one the owner and one the build/use/container/move flags.

NOTE: The rent system is so an owner of a residence can rent out their property for others to use for a set amount a day. It can charge them per RL day a certain amount.

Found the issue, it looks like it was trying to check a lease on a Residence that had been deleted. I added a check for it in the development version, should be better now. :)
