    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.

Hey again, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for, my initial question is pasted down below, but how exactly is this useful to use in the wiki? Nice work on the first half of the Config guide btw, that's going to be useful :)

You may have been affected by the name case-sensitivity bug I just fixed, try the latest snapshot. Also, do realize that due to IConomy being name case-sensitive, all Residence permissions are now case sensitive. This means if you give permission to "leemur" you wont have permission, it has to be "Leemur".
Il see about making sure it works in 2.0, as I'm not doing updates on 1.X anymore. :\
Hmm, I could do something like that I suppose. The thing is, permissions really falls outside the scope of this plugin, as thats what the Permissions plugin is supposed to do. I already feel like I've tread a little far from the real core function of this plugin, which is to protect land :) But then again, why not lol, it shouldn't be hard to do.

Mr.Bekvon. I'm sorry to inform you this but this plugin is not ' just to protect land'. It's the backbone of my server ;)
I've made the cities around the fact that you can lease a bit of ground for protection! It is why I love it so much, it is why i'm on your plugin post multiple times a day haha. Its becoming basicly the only plugin you -need- for a
    fun server xD

How do i make residence for more than myself

  8. Offline

    Daniel Few

Do you mean how do you make a residence that belongs to two people?
If so, you can't have TWO owners, however you can allow two people to have the same permissions in the resicdence.
Lets say you own a residence and you want someone to have a certain flag for that residence. You would type /res pset <residence name> <player name> <flag> <true/false>

    Eg.
    Residence name: house
    Player name: danjames

/res pset house danjames build true
/res pset house danjames use true

If you don't understand this, please ask :)

This seems like an interesting plugin to replace WG...

    - It doesn't protect Lighter's and such to prevent around the world right?
    - Is their a way to turn of Teleporting?
    - Is their way for users to "create" residences such as "Towns" at "x" configurable price?

I'll have to test this out when I have time, but time is scarce these days.. So someone letting me know would greatly be appreciated.

    thanks.

    Daniel Few

Hello, i'll try and answer these as best i can.

    - It doesn't protect Lighter's and such to prevent around the world right?
I'm not sure what you mean by protect Lighter's? Do you mean flint and steel? So stop people being able to use them? If so then YES you can stop people using lighters to burn blocks.

    - Is their a way to turn of Teleporting?
Yes there is a way to turn of teleporting. You just go into the config.yml and goto the group you don't want to be able to teleport and turn CanTeleport to FALSE. See the wiki for more information (the part of groups will be added later)

    - Is their way for users to "create" residences such as "Towns" at "x" configurable price?
Again, not quite sure what you mean. There is a way to create areas and then sell them. The admin can also set how much it costs to create a protection eg 10 coins per block. So if a user wans to protect their house or town, they can select the cuboid and it'll cost them iConomy or MineConomy money to create it.

    Hope this helped,

    Thanks Danial few.

but how do i disable max amount of residence? and how do i delete residence?

  13. Offline

    Steve Cole

to delete in 1.2.8 not sure if 2.0 is the same:
    /res remove <residence name>

and to disable the max amount of residence:
i thought their was a permission node or config line for this but can't find it now.
just set the max limit really high, i have mine set to 1000.
again this is for 1.2.8 not sure if 2.0 is the same

  14. Offline

    Daniel Few

    Yes, steve is correct.

To delete a residence, stand inside the residence and type '/res remove'. You can also type '/res remove <residence name>' to delete.

I do not believe there is a way to disable the max amount of residents, unless a * works, not sure. You will have to ask bekvon. In the meantime, just set it very high like steve suggested.
    -DanJames

Just a tip: if you want to aim a post at someone, type @name eg @danjames. This will give me a notification and help the person your talking to respond quicker. You can also quote their post which also notifies them. I'm sure you already know this though.

Thank's Dan, Let me edit what you didn't understand!

Essential, replacing World Guard, since WG offers Anti-protection, except it doesn't have what residence offers, yet.

  16. Offline

    Daniel Few

Yes, so you can stop forest fires by restricting starting a fire to certain residence.

The different between this and world guard, is that it gives users the opportunity to create their 'own' residence (protections) themself, without the need to call an admin. The admin can configure this plugin in many ways so that players can create certain protections. It also adds a role play feature by the connection with iconomy.

It also adds the market place, which i don't think is available in WorldGuard, correct me if i'm wrong, where users can buy and sell protections, giving them the ability to sell ownership of land and of buildings they have created.

So yes, in a way it is similar to WorldGuard, however it offers more flexibility for Admins and the ability for users to easily protect their own areas. It also has a leasing system to help stop residence's that haven't been used in a long time clogging up the server files.

    BioRage

    Tested, it's freaking great!

Only one thing too add is that letting mob's spawn in residential area should have a flag for no damage, or being able for friendly /wolvies to spawn.

    --- Found a glitch with MCMMO ----
In a Non-PVP zone, if you still spam unarmed or anything you still level up, even if "x player" doesn't die or get hurt.
"This is a NON-PVP ZONE" But your skills still level.
    - I'm sure it's the same with digging in a non-able area..

    -----------------------

Also, how do I allow user's to add flags, because I made a resident (big town area) and transfered the ownership with /resadmin setowner x name, and it was transfered.

So than that person tried to make a subzone and they BOTH did not work she could not change the flags... any ideas?! ... do I need to really add permissions?

Edit: I tried adding residence.create to the permission Nodes, no luck.
    --------------
Is it possible to create one big zone, and within that zone, sub-zone as for "plots" for users?
Again, the owner does not have access to set flags, only I do.

EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

residence.create is what was being used in V1.X, but in 2.0 it has been moved to the config file under the CanCreate for each permission group. The reasoning behind this was so that people who didn't use the Permissions plugin could still have more control over Residence. However, the owner is always supposed to be able to change flags, even without the CanCreate. What exactly was the message being produced when attempting to change flags? Oh and also, names are now Case-Sensitive, so for example "biorage" does not equal "BioRage" Also, make sure your using the latest snapshot since there were some bugs related to case sensitivity in earlier versions :)

EDIT: oh, and yea you can use a subzone of a big zone, as a sort of "plot" for other players if you want to :)

Thanks, I'll have to test it out when my mayor gets back on.

    the permission node is "residence.CanCreate"?

She told me that it was something like "You are not the owner of residence to change the flag, or something.."

So essentialy I do not need that "Cancreate" right? It should be working with out it... Hmm.. Currently my config, I'll have to test it asap!

Hey @bekvon . Is there anything you can do with a residence that you can't do with a subzone? Because if so, my plan was told make my whole town a residence and then make each house a subzone

    "/res set Lemoria pvp false"
"The resident owner doesn't have access or permission"
-> said she was owner, but basically she couldn't change the flag

    Unfortunately it did not work

CanCreate is NOT a permissions node, its a true/false value under the Residence configuration file. Look at line 43 of your config in that pastebin link you gave me. Its true by default though, so you probably wont need to change it. Also, can you confirm that you checked that the Case-Sensitivity of the residence owner matches the players name? This means if you have UpperCase characters in your name, they NEED to be UpperCase when you set the residence owner too. Residence owner "player" is NOT the same as "PlAyEr" Anyway, hope this helps :)

Il look into whats changed in 689

I think that the lease system is the only thing that doesn't work on subzones. But that will change in the future :)

What were you doing when this happened? also using v1.X or 2.0?

I used 2.0 and created in my second world the residence.
The delete function worked but it's not ok, if I can build only in one world :(
Only SQL is required and everything will work

Whether it's true of false (False now in line43) I want them to be able to create subzones.

I can confirm that it was case sensitive correctly. I tested it on my test account.

"The res owner does not have access to this flag"

    EDIT:
    /res set town pvp false
    EDIT2:
The name is "Town" as an example with Capital T

It's "Town" -> that "The res owner does not have access to this flag"
..... "town" -> Internal Error, I've tried both.

    That's the intention :D

Town names aren't case sensitive :) only owner names. But it looks like your trying to set a flag you don't have access to. Look in the config file under "Groups", there is a "FlagAccess" section for each group. If you want a player that belongs to group X to be able to change the "pvp" flag, then you need to add a "pvp: true" under FlagAccess. This is how you can control every single flag a player has access to (Residence gives you ALOT of control when it comes to flags).
EDIT: nvm, residence names are case sensitive right now  although they werent supposed to be...

Fixed, but not what I wanted :(.

Is there any way you can add a option to allow subzone building, but not main residence building?

Edit: let me explain, by default id on't want anyone creating residences.

I want my mayor(s) that i create the zone with residences, to be able to create subzones (in which you can call them plots) for them to allow their citizen to create on that plot area..

In which on that plot they citizen that "owns" that area of plot, only he can access / flag / Mayor can touch / use.

IE: Residence Town = Big chunk of land
---> Mayor1 decides to make subzone 1->2 and make those plots,
---> Is it possible to make "citizen1" owner of subzone1, in which they can build, and whatever on it?

Does it kind of make sense?

Yea, set CanCreate to false, and then change SubzoneDepth to somthing greater then zero. SubzoneDepth is a few lines below CanCreate in the config file. An example of what SubzoneDepth is:

A subzone within a zone is a depth of 1.
A subzone within a subzone within a zone is a depth of 2.

    And so on :)

Also is your dp from Gosik?

    Okay, Let me try now...

Is there somewhere applicable we can talk back to back? Skype or Msn?

    CanCreate: False
    and
    SubzoneDepth: 3

but it's still not allowing subzone building :/

Also is it possible to add people to a certain zone?
