    How the heck did your towns lose their mayors, that isn't even possible with the towny code, it will just place a new player as a mayor (trying the assistants first.) You cannot disable it, towny uses it to determine what commands mayors can do. You could set the nomads and default ranks to 'rankname: []' if you want to lessen the nodes given to normal players via townyperms.

    Maybe you just haven't realized what townyperms can do?

    Looks fine, they should be able to create a town now.

    Town i said mayors i meant towny assistants (oops). After the update all assistants were removed.
    Can you give me a townyperms file so its basically the exact same as before this "update".
    Offtopic question, why did you remove TownChat from the main plugin making it require that other plugin?

    I'm pretty sure we mentioned the automatic assistant-downgrade in teh changelog, assistants need to be re-ranked using /town rank.

    Townychat was split up when towny's chat capabilities were expanded. It is modular because some admins do not want to use it.

    But others who do want to use it but don't want to go though the hassle of using it with another chat plugin.
    I don't think mayors are even able to promote assistants right now, no permission i don't know.

    Why can my players still create a town with the permissions: - towny.claimed.owntown.build.* - towny.claimed.owntown.destroy.* - towny.claimed.owntown.item_use.* - towny.claimed.owntown.switch.* - towny.wild.*

    The default townyperms has the nodes to allow mayors to rank players in their towns. Try refreshing the file with a stop, delete, start.

    Go into the townyperms.yml and remove towny.command.town.new from the nomad group.

    But will some player still be able to make a town such as a mayor class? If i give them the command towny.command.town.new will they still be able to make a town? Also someone on the IRC said to give the players the permission -towny.town.new (including the minus). Would that work?

    That would not work. Nomads are set up in townyperms to receive towny.command.town.new, that is everyone not in another townyperms rank. Remove it from the nomads and create a rank in your permission plugin that contains towny.command.town.new. That rank alone will be able to create towns.

    Your language file chinaes.yml has a lot of badly done lines in it. That lists just about all of them I imagine.

    I just have a question/concern I'd like to bring up.

    Is there a limit or something as to the number of outposts a town can have? The server I'm admin on is running the most recent release, and one of our towns is complaining that they've lost all but nine of their outposts. When we've tried re-adding the outposts, they are added, but others are erased, yet, if you physically visit them, they still show as the town's outpost. And the config file for the town only shows nine outpost spawns. :3

    There is no limit to outposts. I've never seen any bug report like this before.

    Hey, in serious need of help.
    My server crashed today, and since starting it up a couple of plugins broke, but I fixed them. As soon as they got fixed towny decided it couldn't read a town's .txt file. I replaced it with a backup and that now works. Now it can't read the world.txt file in plugins/towny/data/worlds/world.txt
    I've replaced it with the backup a few times but no luck.
    Any idea how to fix the issue?
    I'm server admin so have access to all files.

    EDIT: I have since reset the towns.txt file and added it in again. also replaced all of the town files by deleting and adding them in again (exactly the same files as before). now every town has the load problem.
    I fixed the world.txt problem
    Also... in the data folder, should there be another data folder? I'm sceptical but can't find any images or descriptions of the file structure

    When you're locked in safe mode your best bet is to not replace individual files, instead replace teh entire data folder with one from a backup. And no there shouldn't be a data folder inside teh data folder.

    I have been spending hours trying to figure out how to do this but can not seem to figure it out.
    I am using PermissionsEX & TownyChat. No other chat plugins installed.

    I want to give members chat prefix's with the following: [Drifter], [Resident], [Mayor] & [King]. I currently use PermissionsEX to set [Owner] and [Mod] tags. When a player joins a town it should automatically update from [Drifter] to [Resident]. If a player purchases a town or nation it should automatically update to [Mayor] or [King]. I know how to do this by manually promoting players with PermissionsEx but I want this to be an automated process. How do I do this?

    You would need a thirdparty plugin aside from pex and towny, one that creates the town and ranks the player up.

    I don't need to actually rank them up but specifically want to just give them chat prefixes instead of using the town level and nation level titles. Is there a way to assign a chat prefix with townyperms.yml and town chat? Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

    There isn't a way to currently put prefixes into townyperms. its problematic because a player can be multiple ranks at once.

    is mysql faster than flatfile?
    towny seems to be taking a hellishly long time to load using flatfile and my single city isn't what i would think is excessively large.

    I've recently found that when a town dies the town gets reverted back to original wilderness state, however i have set it so it shouldn't under "revert on unclaim" where enabled is set to false. is there something im missing or is this a bug with the plugin? Also is there a way to bring back one town from the backups without reverting every town - it got removed when the mayor left the server and its to late to do a full backup. I am using the most recent version of towny along with bukkit beta 1.4.5 R0.2.

    I suppose it depends on your MySQL server but mine is much faster.

    You might see faster load times, but towny load both mylsq and flatfile information into ram and will operate at the speed of your ram.

    You probably turned it off in the config, which is only default settings applied to new worlds. Use the '/tw toggle revertunclaim' command in each world you do not want this enable in. There is no way to replace the blocks when they have been removed. You should use a backup you made of your server's world files and MCEdit to replace the reverted chunks.

    Hello, I want to say that this plugin version 0.82.0.0 does not protect the new unit ID: 389 (Item Fram). Please fix it.
