    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks

    Could someone explain to me hhow to work the permission skills like sneak, here is my classes file

    Out of curiosity, what leads you to believe Notch's EXP system looks really fun?
    He was vague, at best. I didn't really see any specifics about his EXP system in his post. :confused:

    Going along with what Legionarius asked, do you guys have any plans for the future to implement a way to differentiate mastery and specialization?

    Any chance we could get some documentation on what possible values there are for armor, weapons, etc (bows, picks etc). I have stumbled on many of these but it would be nice if they were listed somewhere.

    EDIT: The possible values for the damages file would also be nice, as they don't use the block ids, and the possible configuration options are not listed anywhere yet.

    Never heard about that - maybe you meant it's much like "most" mmo's :)
    If anything, the inspiration was from EQ/UO/Rift/SWG
    already possible

    We use the bukkit/MC ENUMS - DIAMOND_LEGGINGS, etc im sure someone will post a list of accepted stuff.

    Let me Clarify. Are you planning on making it possible so that somebody can specialize into a child class at say, level 50, yet still have a max level of say, 80.

    If this is already possible, where can I specify specialization level. The only config for level I see is in config.yml under MaxLevel.

    Edit: Ideally the system I am thinking about will have all players start as some beginner class. And then once they get to level 15 or so, they can pick their first real class. Then, they would have to reach level 80ish to master the class, so that they could then switch to an entirely new class.

    Exactly what do you mean by that? Can you show me in a config file as an example?
    Also, can you set 2 parents to a child? Say Warrior can become a BladeMaster and can become a Knight at level 20.

    Think ill just have to wait for next full reload. Reload only grabs config.yaml unless I am missing something. Does anyone know the syntax for the ranged and regular damage settings in the classes file?

    Non admins do not have access to /hero leaderboard. Minor bug.

    After playing/testing Heroes before the most recent Herocraft map launch, I thought I would see what was going on behind the curtain. My thoughts:

    1.) I realize that some of the skills are missing component variables inside the skills.yml file, such as: Reflect, Blink, Icebolt, to name a few. It would be nice to see the skills.yml file expanded into a comprehensive list of each variable used within the class file so that it could be edited appropriately (such as damage, duration, damage-over-time, anything else). For instance, Reflect used to have a damage mitigation component (where it simply turned damage around 100%), where now it instead duplicates the damage.

    2.) Would there be a way to combine two or more skills into one skill, so when they are cast they create a new spell entirely? I am no Java wiz by far and would like to see this offered to create hybrid skills. Perhaps with the class wizard that DThielke has suggested might include such a feature, so that new spells could be pumped out using already existing ones?

    This plugin is intense.

    Is there any way that your class may be displayed in the chat interface upon speaking, such as through the utilization of iChat? (Ex. [Warrior] 2insane: This is an example!) Thanks for the help, I'm a bukkit noob. :p

    Just wondering, does frostbolt have a stun/slow mechanic? or entombs them in ice for a short duration? In anycase loving the plugin, moved from both MagicSpells and AdvancementStandalone straight to this one plugin, great work.
