[PEX] Step by step permission instructions (basic)

Hey guys! I decided to make this guide to help you setting your server permissions!

This guide is for PEX if you have any other permission plugin change to PEX! This plugin requires a chat plugin, I recommend EssentialsChat, it comes in the EssentialsCore bundle:

Ok lets start, I'll give you step by step instructions:

1. Download PEX

2. Add it to your plugins folder

3. Start your server

4. Join your server, make sure PEX started correctly by typing /pl if it says PermissionsEX you're ok!

5. Go to the console and type /pex user [yourname] add * this gives you permission to set the permissions ingame! The * means that you have permission for everything!
Example: /pex user Deonasoto add *

6. Make your first group by typing /pex group [groupname] create
Example: /pex group owner create

7. Add yourself to the group by typing /pex user [yourname] group set [groupname]
Example: /pex user Deonasoto group set owner

8. Make your group prefix by typing /pex group [groupname] prefix [prefix]
Example: /pex group owner prefix &6[&cOwner&6]&7 this will make your name look like this: [Owner]Deonasoto I added the colors using Minecraft color codes:

9. Add permissions to the groups by typing /pex group [groupname] add [permission]
Example: /pex user Deonasoto add essentials.fly this will make me be able to type the command /fly - each plugin has different permissions.

10. Set your default group by typing /pex default group set [groupname]
Example: /pex default group set guest this will make a new player joining, automatically be set the group "guest".

I get an error with the command "/pex user [yourname] add" saying "sorry, you don't have enough permissions"

The prefix doesn't show,i dont have a chat plugin though? does it matter? HELP ME

dont use the "/" in console.

Say I have a Moderator group, I want the moderator group to inherit the permissions of the Member group. How would I do that

Yes you need the chat manager plugin that they give you with pex

babak2010, just don't use the "/" in console. Console automaticly sets the "/" before each line.

 

I'm having the same problem, I didn't put the '/' before the command in the console, but i'm still getting the same error...

 

Here is my problem:
I can't use this command:
pex user NewCoolPC add Owner

It worked!

Now what do I do afterwords, more specifically, what permissions can I use, and is there a "use all" permission?

 

I had the same problem, it's really simple; put a space between "add" and "*". Hope it works!

 

i do it in the console without "/" and it says the same thing PLS help

 

Im having problems with setting a defualt group whenever i do so it tells me Syntax error??

 

I have done all the step but after setting up the prefix for my group 'Owner' instead of my name being [Owner]JamesSCL my name stayed at JamesSCL....I went into my permmisions.yml and i am under Owner.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! also my host is mcprohosting.com but that shoudnt effect anything.....

Where do you download it?

 

For anyone having an issue with the default group, the syntax is - pex set default group <group> [world]

so for example:
pex set default group Moderator
pex set default goup Moderator World1

 

I am having trouble doing "pex user DGKbeast add" it tell me unknown command syntax error

All the commands say that for pex..."unknown command syntax error"
