My server is still on 1.8. I'm pretty anal about the environment looking nice, so sliced chunks are pretty annoying when new algorithms come around. What are known ways of dealing with this?

Can you make a defined portion of your world render so that it's big enough to avoid the perimeter of half-mountains and spontaneous oceans?

You can generate an area of the map, BorderGuard can do it.

You will still have an ugly border at some point though, the only solution I found was to go around the entire thing smoothing it with WorldEdit, took bloody ages ;)

I don't see where BorderGuard allows you to generate chunks? I only see a set-border command and you still have to manually trigger the chunk generation.

I may not have meant BorderGuard then... sorry :(

I found an option in MCEdit that should let you generate chunks, but it hangs when it tries to use my minecraft_server.jar
