Mounting the Player on "nothing"

How would I mount the player on nothing. I just want to make it look like the player is riding on something. If I have to make an invisible mountable chicken, I will. But I'm wondering whether there is a better way?

 

@starwarsmace you mean make a player look like siting? you mean making a player sit mid-air?
in any case you can try your luck with packets if you just want to make the player look like sitting but if you want to be simplistic or make player stay mid air, an invisible entity is your best chance.

Apparently there was a change in plans. Now I have to make the player riding on a broom. So I think I should do is make an entity with this. Then I make the chicken or whatever mob I am overriding look like a broom through a resource-pack. The only thing I am not sure how to do is make the mount go in the direction of the cursor of the player. Note: It will be able to fly. If anybody could help me with that I would greatly appreciate it.

 

@starwarsmace why not just make it a tamed horse equipped with a saddle?

That is an option. But the only thing is that it should fly...
