    Hey guys!

    Aim:
I am a finishing student who has a keen understanding for Web Design, Pascal, Lape and C++. I have made websites for Minecraft servers before however with the creation of MinePress I will allow other people with next to NO web design experience run a clean and simple to manage website for their server!...

This is a heavily modified version of Wordpress. Much like OS-Commerce has heavily modified packages which you have to pay extortionate prices for.. this is 100% free

The reason I bring this thread to the Bukkit forum is because I recently added Dynmap integration with an admin panel and I wanted to know what suggestions you guys could bring to the table. I really hope you guys can send some great ideas my way!

    Checklist:

    Minecraft account integration (Skins etc)
Community account which will be connected to forum(s) software.
    Easy Map integration
    In game skin editor (Custom)
    Quick Server Join Option
IRC chat on side of client page (Play minecraft from browser (Possibly)).
    Boot Minecraft from webpage

You should add a demo link :p

Demo link? To the dynmap plugin or the software itself? Minepress.co.uk is a (Stable pre-release) version of it but I do all my dev work on local host :)

Hopefully it will come out nice. And like h31ix said, when you get it partially complete or in progress I would recommend setting up a demo if you have the resources (Or you can read my signature ;P)

To the Minepress website software. I saw your site you had been linking to, but yeah it didn't seem to have all the things you had boasting about in your OP, so I just assumed you were using that site for purely information.

It would be cool of you to post some (more) pictures or something, though, I would indeed like to see what you're talking about, even if it's only on your system right now. Make sure you don't loose the sourcecode by only having it on your machine, though! Use versioning!

I'm not sure if you have seen wordpress before but the admin panel is where all the functions behind the display are :p I'l make a video with a voice over :)

i'l do spoilers for a diary update log :p

also as for the checklist I only have 2 things done for now (Hence the ticks) which is why some of it may have seemed like it wasn't there (because it isn't ;) )

    Slowly working on it though!

Yeah, I use Wordpress for my blog :)
A demo would definately be sweet, I'm interested in seeing what you've got.

Aha, I see, well don't let me badger you; get back to work and make something cool!

I will soon but its 3:40am and I'm absolutely shattered haha.

Thank you very much for your support, I feel more motivated now than before due to the lack of interest on the Minecraft forums :(

    *Cracks whip*

What if you added an optional widget/add-on that allowed people to greylist their servers?

This was something I wanted to do back in the day, but had no experience coding. Basically, a plugin runs on the server and checks with the site to see if the user has applied/signed up before letting them in. All you would need is a small form that allowed people to sign up for the server, and then store those usernames in the database. The plugin would connect there and check if users are good-to-go when logging in.

Obviously, this wouldn't be useful for all servers, so it may not be a priority, but it'd probably be a cool thing to have.

EDIT: You didn't mention Java in your OP, so I don't know if you've ever made a plugin before, but if you haven't the code required for what I described is probably like 50 lines and would very rarely need any sort of update, so I could easily write that for you if you if you did decide to do that.

EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

Your websites background image doesn't fit all the way across my 24 inch monitor :p Nothing big, but just wanted to bring it up.

Thanks for telling me guys :) (backgrounds are always a pain though :p) looks good on one but not the other. I'l add some css for diff screen sizes!

I hardly write in Java and I'm still not too familiar with incorporating mysql with it :p however this seems like a challenge and I am 100% up for this! If you wouldn't mind helping I'd love it!

    Thanks :)

Pretty sure WP has a class for the MySQL connection already, it'd probably be pretty trivial to query it from there.
