    Pavement by Zach Hinchy
current release: 1.1.1 (tested on CraftBukkit 1.4.6-R0.3 and SpoutPlugin 1.4.6-R0.2)
Click here for the BukkitDev page.

Pavement is a plugin for Spout. Smelt Gravel in a furnace to get Pavement, a new blocktype. Players walking/running on top of pavement will move twice as fast as normal and jump slightly higher. You can also craft Pavement Slabs with 3 Pavement blocks!

The Spout server plugin and the SpoutCraft client launcher are required to utilize this mod. Vanilla Minecraft clients will only see stone and won't be able to craft the block; though they will still be boosted by the pavement.

You can also edit the config file to change the texture used. It's highly recommended that even if you're using the default texture that you mirror it on your own webspace.

If you're making your own texture, it needs to be exactly 32 wide by 16 tall (or an exact multiple of those dimensions), with the right half simply being a vertically stretched version of the top-left quarter, for use as the side of the Slab. For reference, use the default texture linked above.

Future plans include Permissions support (what users can utilize the speed change), configurable speed multipliers, and paintable road lines using dye (double yellow line!).

    Version 1.1.1
    • Fixed top-half slab dropping its technical block instead of the regular slab.
    Version 1.1.0
    • Added top-half slab functionality to the Pavement Slab.
    • Speed/jump boost now uses the vanilla method of changing speed/jump height, meaning vanilla Minecraft users will benefit from Pavement! (They still won't be able to see it, of course.)
    Version 1.0.0
    • Changed crafting recipe for slabs to give you 6 slabs instead of 3 (same as with vanilla slabs in the 1.2.4 update).
    • Verified it works with SpoutPlugin/Bukkit RBs.
    Version 1.0.0 Prerelease
    • Added configurable texture.
    • Updated to Bukkit 1.1-R5 event system.
    • Various bug fixes.
    Alpha 2
    • Added Pavement Slabs.
    • Improved speedboost on/off calculations.
    Alpha 1
    • Initial release.
If you like this plugin, please consider making a donation. It helps me get by and is greatly appreciated.

I saw a mod where you just had to press shift on a certain region and you were sped up, maybe implement this for non spout users? But very nice anyways :)

I'll look into it at some point. Don't count on it, but it's a possibility.

    ALSO: We're on BukkitDev now.

First post updated with a new development build of Pavement that adds Pavement Slabs. Please note that this is a development build that will only work with SpoutPlugin build #815 or higher. Since the latest recommended build of SpoutPlugin is only #737, upgrade at your own risk.

Alpha 3 will add permissions and configuration support. It'll be done in the near future; keep your eyes peeled.

A new development build is now available. This fixes several bugs, adds configurable texture, and updates to the new Bukkit 1.1-R5 event system.
Once again, SpoutPlugin build #815 or higher is required.

If you want normal users to run fast smoothly, you can add the potion effect SPEED.
I haven't looked through your code, but it would allow users to run fast even though they don't have the spout client (thus only requiring it for the pavement texture).

Hey folks, I've updated the plugin to version 1.0.0! Woooo! It supports the latest recommended build, and contains finalized features that have been in the dev builds (Pavement Slabs, configurable texture). Enjoy!

    spout craft meaning the client?
I saw a plugin that did the same and didn't require spout of any sort
So tou might want to look that up ;)

Hey mate, I've got a very strange issue with this awesome plugin. Most times when i restart my server, the pavement looks like stone and loses its special properties even though im running the latest spout plugin and spoutcraft.
