I have a server called the AwesomeCraft network, and I would like to know if it's bad to leave my server open (24/7)?
If yes, please tell me why.

Keeping it up and unstaffed is the only problem, because griefers come out at night.

Just grab a logging tool with rollback and you're good to go. It's fun to rollback and ban.

If it's not supposed to be a public server, you better put a whitelist on it. If it's a public server, I hope you've got yourself protection already.. it won't even matter if it's closed at night, it will still get griefed without protection.

    Depends on allot of variables.

You should add more information on what your server is about. Like gameplay type, anti-griefing measurements token etc.

As said, depends on alot, if you want people to enjoy your server from around the world, and to become a true network, leave it open, and if your worried, get a few trusty staff, and arm yourself with coreprotect: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/coreprotect/, you can see who placed/broke blocks and what they took and placed in chests along with looking up player logins and chat, without the need to enter your server files, also you can rollback grief e.t.c and restrict it to only undo certain actions or mob kills or placed/broken blocks.
also, if you have essentials, you can ban unwanted players, if not use Iban: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/iban/
(not updated, but still working and a great plugin with customizable ban/kick broadcast messages and disconnection messages to the rule breakers!
