I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

I'm kind of having a problem with checking chests.
Toolblock and tool both don't work on chests, but when I remove the chest and then use the toolblock, it works.
Using 1.21 with default config for the tools
  3. Offline

Strange, nothing happens or do you open the chest?
I'd guess it's a plugin affection chests causing that.

Thanks a lot! Its now running perfectly!

One more question. I currently use my web host for my database hosting, but it has a 1 GB size limit. Is there a way I can have logblock clear old entires after x days? Or does anyone know any good MySQL hosts that provide unlimited storage?

    Thanks. :)

I have been using logblock for awhile now, and i love it. but within the last few updates I have been having trouble using /lb world, and I'm hoping you guys can help
    i have tried
    /lb world
    /lb world world
"as "world" is my world name"
    /lb lookup world
    and /lb lookup world world
all of them will return a NULL, I'm not sure if I am using the command wrong, as a few things have changed in recent updates, or if something is not working. other than that logblock works as normal
  6. Offline

It used to work before I updated to 1.20, and I have no new plugins either.
  7. Offline

    There's a config entry called: clearlog.keepLogDays :D
Oh, you're updating from pre v1.00. The syntax changed a bit meanwhile, resp. /lb world got removed. But you can get the same result with "/lb sum p", which is short for "/lb world "world" sum players"

Hm, is there any error log? Could be missing WorldEdit, but I should get downloaded to lib/ folder ...
EDIT: You could check if there is a broken file.

    Released v1.2.2

Sry for that lock ... one missng null pointer check
Fixed with that update, and such things won't ever happen again, made it stop after 10 useless runs and write all to a file to import it at next start.
  11. Offline

One issue, wait two issues I ran into.

    1. Chestaccess is always blank for some reson and it is set to true in the config.
    2. pistons that was placed and then used to cause problems are not removed but the blocks around them gets restored.

I use it on conjucntion with backups and just use //restore from WE when needed but figured I'd let u know.

Plugin kicks ass, its the end of those stupid griefers for sure.
  12. Offline

I actually needed Google Translate to read that. :p

It'd be nice to have the fix asap, been crashing my server a lot lately.
  13. Offline

My problem is weird. The wood pick axe and bedrock both show block history, but anytime i type a command like /lb rollback area 2 since 2m it just says 0 blocks found. Same thing with player replacing area. When I type the stats command, all my block breaks and creations also appear, so I know they're being registered.

was soll ich machen wenn sich die warteschlange immr voller frisst? die is nun schon bei 40K aber er speichert nix mehr, kann man einfach server stoppen damit er es überträgt oder verschwindet die dann einfach?
  15. Offline

    1. Most likely missing BukkitContrib. This plugin provides the chest api.
    2. Yes, got fixed somewhere around CB #990
Sry, guessed wrong from you nick name. Wahrheit means truth in german :D
    Fixed with v1.22.
Maybe you should use a larger timespan that 2 minutes, try 999d :D

Question: Once you rollback something it asks you if you want to delete logs? Can you explain this? Like what happens if I do and what happens if I don't? Does it change anything?
  18. Offline

Not logs, the log (= affected database entries).
  19. Offline

    If there is a bug/issue - I swear I will find it.

Just updated from LB 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 and lost the ability to query and roll back, apparently. The database is still showing rows being inserted as normal, but all tools and commands say there are no records returned. Everything worked previous to 1.2.2, I'm not quite sure if there's anything I could have done to cause this to happen.

Is anyone else having a similar issue?
  26. Offline

Alright, been seeing MySQL overload with this-- 50+ connections spawned over time, lags MySQL (450%+ CPU usage by MySQL for short periods of time(!!))... (Quad core CPU @ 2.66ghz)

And sometimes had some out of memory errors with the wrapper, MySQL and this.. And I launch the server with 6GB RAM (out of 8GB total), so I know that it shouldn't be spawning this many connections, using this much CPU, or creating these errors.

Currently running latest LB and Build 1000 of Bukkit, but had same problems for the last 2 LB builds, and on CB 1000, 974 and 956...

If I can fix this, then maybe I'll finally have eradicated the next-to-last problem on my list of things to fix xD (next one being better GC settings, then the server will finally be optimized until the next update breaks everything)...

        defaultTime: 999d
So every command returns nothing found but there is no error?
    What about /lb sum p ?
Interesting. Normally LB shouldn't need more than 2-3 connections. You mean it wasn't there before v1.20?
That works for me. Are you sure you commited the changes?
k, working on with highest priority now.

It there a way to log, when players destroy blocks with laser from industrialcraft mod?

@DiddiZ first, fantastic plugin! This is one of my favorites and one of the few I could not live without. Thanks for your awesome work making a great plugin that's fast and efficient too!

Background for feature request: I tried setting my DB retention to infinite and I got to about 2 months worth of data before the inserts started slowing down to the point where LogBlock was having problems keeping up. I purged about a months worth of data and it's back in tip-top shape. But of course, now there's a months worth of history I don't have. I've addressed this by backing up prior to purging and I have an offline copy that I roll forward every so often that has full history - but of course that's not available online to my mods with the in-game query tools.

Feature request: It would be GREAT to have an archive table. So `lb-main` and `lb-main-archive`. The purpose being, I can trim the "main" table to something reasonable (say, 7 or 14 days) and keep insert performance high. But in the event I run a query that is outside of that range, LogBlock could query both the current and archive table. I found query performance with 2 months worth of data was actually reasonable (MySQL rocks), it was just the insert performance with the massive indexes that was lagging.

I know this would complicate the architecture a bit, but maybe it could be done in baby steps. For example, you could just add the archive table & option to use it, and instead of purging data into oblivion, just migrate it to the archive table for now. Then as time goes on, you could actually add it to the query interface to seamlessly use both tables.

Thanks for considering, and thanks again for a kick-ass plugin!

LogBlock has a fantastic API that's easy to use. Ask author of said plugin to check for LogBlock and use the API to log modified blocks. It's not a lot of work for said mod author, it would amount to a few lines of code to detect LogBlock and just one line of code to log block changes before doing them. Here's the wiki you can point the mod author to:

Note the top section "How to log own block changes": it's really quite simple.
