    Cookbook is the premier specialised plugin for custom crafting and smelting recipes. Craft gold bars from stone, diamonds from grass and much, much more! Cookbook allows the creation of recipes in an easy-to-understand recipes file - simply create the recipe, reload the plugin and you're done! Cookbook affects the crafting and smelting tables directly - no more workarounds or other weird methods. It can override the default recipes too - just copy the recipe and specify a custom result.

    Cookbook allows the customisation of the crafting recipes used in a workbench and smelting. Let's take for example the recipe for torches - a stick with oil on top. With Cookbook, I could make it so a stack of 35 torches were made if I put obisidan on top of said stick in the crafting area. I could make a 9x9 recipe of dirt blocks create diamond. If I wanted to smelt coal from saplings, I'd just specify that in the recipes file. In short, Cookbook allows the creation of workbench crafting and smelting recipes, completely user-configured, to give a specified resulting stack.

    Using data ranges for repair recipes:
    In 1.4, the repair recipe feature was added. To use this, all you have to do is put 'X' as the damage value, and any data value for that item will be accepted as valid.

    Crafting recipes (open)
    To configure cookbook, open the cookbook.recipes file. Inside the file are a few custom recipes already configured, and you can change/add/delete them if you like. The way new ones are created is like so.
    A workbench is a 3x3 slot area, filled with air. To represent this in a file, we use a 3x3 grid of numbers, separated by commas. Each number represents the item id that would go into that slot on a crafting bench to produce your recipe. 0 is air (nothing). So, we get this:

    4th line.

    The data values for each line are separated by the ';' - the first number on the right corresponds to the data value of the first item on the left. Note that 'X' is a valid data value, allowing any data value to be used in that square.

    The fourth line is the result (what you get when you have this configuration). It is formatted like so: the item id is on the left, the stack amount is in the middle, and the data value is on the far right. For example - to configure a stack of 64 sticks, I would put 280:64:0 on the fourth line. These four lines constitute a recipe.

    Let's do an example. I want to use a stick in the middle of the bench to get a stack of 24 apples.

    260:24:0 - the result is a 24-stack of apples.

    See the included recipes file for information on Shapeless recipes. Use the @Shapeless identifier before a recipe to make it shapeless - for example

    Will make this recipe shapeless - stone can be placed anywhere to get the desired result.
    Furnace Recipes (open)
    Furnace recipes are a lot simpler thankfully :).
    Furnace recipes have two lines: the first line is for the ingredient, the second is for the result.
    The first line is simply the id of the ingredient used in smelting. The second line is separated into 3 sections by ':'s.

    The first section defines the id, the second the data value and the third the custom cooktime.
    Let's do an example - cobblestone to sand.

    4, -the ingredient is cobblestone.
    12:0:0 - results in sand, no data value, no change to cooktime.

    Pretty simple right? The cooktime value is used for extra customisation of the time it takes for one block to be smelted (the progress arrow's speed). Normally, this is incremented from 0 - 200, by 1 each time. In cookbook, you can add extra values onto this. Note the caveat: these will only change cooktime while the window is open.

    And that's it for furnace recipes. Negative values are possible, but will be capped at
    -0.999999... otherwise the recipe will never complete.

    Well, yeah, but the message would display only when you leave the crafting window :S.

    You can add an amount, but it only adds the amount the first time you smelt, not subsequent times.

    The /cookbook recipes command displays recipes from your config file.

    For non-stacking items this wouldn't be a problem, or do you mean it won't return the proper amount on the next operation?

    If it's the first, this could check the config against the db and allow these values to be set in furnace recipies for only non-stacking items, or let people do it and put a warning in the config comments I suppose.

    If it's the latter, that's a shame, but this plugin is still quite well done :)

    I can do it... it's just more work :S and I have to fiddle around with maxStackSizes, add the items manually... I'll do it when I get less busy XD.

    Okay, well, I have plenty of recipes in my recipes file, they're all working.. nothing but dashes are displayed when I use the command.

    @fullwall Until It is possible to display the resulting image, can you please provide personal message to user that a recipe was formed to create X so users know when they have crafted correctly?

    Think about it: if you get sent a message while crafting, the message will be in the background won't it? You won't see the chat until you close the window.

    You know, it strikes me as so odd that Mojang would make the addFurnaceRecipe() method public but make the addCraftingRecipe() method private... All of this would be so much easier if we just had a public addCraftingRecipe() method...

    Anyway, awesome plugin. I wonder if this can be used to further the ability to make a plugin that interacts with a client-side mod... Eventually...

    Hmm, I want to add a recipe that allows users to repair armor by crafting together the damaged armor and the material used to make the armor but it won't work. I know the reason, it's because I'd need to make separate recipes for each damage value of the armor but that would take a VEEEERY long time. Can you please add a config or something so that it can accept an item of all damage values if it's armor?

  17. This is awesome and I love it! However I made a recipe for golden apples and one for cobble>stone
    and when people craft an item, they get one with a health bar!
    - if they merge these they just become one item and absorb the others, so they cant make a stack of stone
    - if they hold these and right click in (or outside!) inventory it drops an identical one and stays!!
    - if they eat a golden apple, it works but doesnt vanish!
    So.. one player with one golden apple could quickly dupe infinite ones for everyone, so I had to remove recipes.

    Any idea how to stop this happening?

    The <material>.getMaxDurability() function would be helpful (where <material> is one of the Material.* constants or the return value of Material.getById(...), I think it's called) for tools and armour, and then for wool and dye (35, 351) the max is 15, for logs (17) the max is 2, and for steps and double steps (43, 44) the max is 3.

    Just in case you didn't know some part of that. <_<

    I have to guess that it's a problem with your recipes file. The fourth line of the recipe must be <id>:<amount>:<data>; if the data is anything other than zero, and the item is anything other than wool, dye, log, coal, or half-step you'll get an item with a health-bar. If the amount is anything less than zero, you'll get an infinite amount. If that confuses you, post your recipes and someone should be able to point out your error.
     
  20. Yep, that was it. I read through the rest of the thread and found a clue in the one where someone copied an example recipe (as I did) and the amount and data were swapped - thats what caused it. Works fine now thanks.

    By the way, if I understand correctly, @Shaped and @Shapeless work sort of as a toggle, affecting all recipes until the next occurrence of one of them.

    Oh, you're right, I misremembered... though, I tested it and it seemed to work. Does it default to shapeless?

    If it finds @Shapeless, it turns shapeless on, but it gets turned off after the recipe. So it defaults to shaped.

    Ohhh... the actual issue seems to be that "/cookbook reload" doesn't actually work properly. I removed @Shapeless from a recipe, and after doing cookbook reload from the console, the recipe still behaved like a shapeless recipe; but when I restarted the server, it no longer worked.

    Which leads to a suggestion: can you add a way to switch the default to shapeless?

    On an unrelated note, this recipe did not work.
