    hi guys.
    first things first

    Linux Server1-DJ 2.6.38-8-generic-pae #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 05:17:09 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
    java version "1.6.0_24"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode, sharing)
intel pentium 4 3,2 GHz (single core)
    300GB Sata HDD
    22 GB swap (i know im silly :p )

    question one:
how do i get craftbukkit to use a much RAM as possible?

    question two:
how many slots would this be able to run on a 12/2 connection (possibly 30/30 soon)

hope you can answer my question´s. thanks :)

Go on your server prop file (I think)
Find the line that says your current memory used (Example, if you're using 1234 mb, look for 1,234 or 1234)
Replace that with 2700 (or new desired amount)

You can set your max heap size to 3GB, and it will use as much of that as it can, but it will likely start swapping out.

Your best bet is to set it at 2560M (2.5G) (-Xmx2560M) and it will use as much of that as it needs to use.

Yeah, McMyAdmin has it's own config file because it is what starts it up. The rest of us have a startup script that we can change to manipulate the RAM that is given to the server.
