   So 1.5 came out with some new blocks and new mechanics, but how do i implement or update them to my existing world. All i have to do is just replace the craftbukkit.jar and that's all?

   Old chunks will not have the new ores/whatnot. Newly generated chunks will have those though.
   All you have to do is replace craftbukkit, indeed.

   Just confirm (partly): Nether-quartz-ore does generate in worlds created back in 1.4 in newly generated chunks (at least in those i tested).
