Help! Only ops can place and break blocks!

I am currently running a public, minecraft 1.2.5, production server, and it gets very annoying how I need to op everybody just so they can place and break blocks. And I really dont want everybody who is coming to my server to be op since they didnt earn it and you never know if they are griefers.

Running vanilla server, the problem was solved. But I want this problem to fixed for bukkit.

Here are my current plugins, and no GroupManager DID NOT work at all, even though they were in group builder, they still couldnt build or break blocks.

This is a problem with your permissions. You should get a permissions plugin as I couldn't see one in that list you had there and then you need to set all nodes to groups. One of the plugins you are using is stopping people placing blocks but I'm not sure which one.

I would agree with that. All of those plugins are capable of stopping people build. But as I said before if you were to set all permission nodes this would stop and so give you greater control over your server.

Thats where I set the permission nodes?

 

I would get the plugin permissionsEX as it does all permission related stuff and more. There are also some others out there that you can use. I personally have never used the permissions.yml file which is the default bukkit permissions thing.
So all in all get a permissions plugin. I use permissionEX but there are a few to choose from.

 

PermissionsEX has a whole set of modify world nodes - check its documentation

 

PermissionsEX didnt fix it, but forced me to remake my minecraft server since upon uninstallation every plugin kept giving out errors.

Null, it's not like canary, where you can just type in the name of the rank, then the commands that it allows. Bukkit makes you need a plugins for it, but i saw your server has no more problem with it.
