    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.

    • v0.94.3.11 - Updated Register, built against CB 1240.
    • v0.94.3.8 - Added basic leaderboards.
    • v0.94.3.6 - Fixed MagicSpells support - MobArena no longer supports MagicSpells pre-v1.1!
    • v0.94.3.5 - Fixed a bunch of bugs introduced with CB 1185, as well as a couple of minor MobArena bugs.

    • Added the three new mob types, Enderman/Endermen, CaveSpider/CaveSpiders, Silverfish. They can be used just like the other mob types in the waves.

    • Fixed an issue where players somehow warping/cheating out of the arena world get kicked from the server when discovered.
    • Added MagicSpells support. Use the magicspells.yml file to ban certain spells from the arena either for the whole session, or only during boss waves.
    • Fixed the Heroes death conflict. MobArena and Heroes should now play nice together. Further Heroes support is planned for upcoming releases.
    • [COLOR=#1000000]MobArena will no longer support the discontinued Permissions 2.x and 3.x permission systems.[/COLOR] Recommended permissions systems include PermissionsBukkit (defacto standard) or PermissionsEX.

    • Added two new boss abilities: 'shuffle-positions' and 'flood'. Try them out!
    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.
    • Weapon durability is now correctly set to "unlimited".
    • Item sub-types (cocoa beans, bonemeal, colored wool, etc.) now work again.
    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    @garbagemule I noticed the other day on the special wave (it was slimes) that after breaking slimes down into the littlest forms, it counts as no monsters on the field and the next wave spawned when I had (solo arena :D) a few tiny slimes left >.>

    @kizwik - Notice how the exception you get says "column 2" when it points to the 'a' in "arenas:"? That's because you have a space in front of "arenas:". Remove that, and you'll be good to go.

    @ACStache - Yes, I am aware of this, but I don't know how to fix it :( The problem is that there is no event for when slimes split into smaller slimes, so there is no (non-bloated) way for me to add the smaller slimes to the monster set. I figured with slimes that it would be okay, because in most cases, the slimes spawn as the normal sized ones, and thus the smaller slimes will almost always be the tiny ones that don't do any damage :p

    Another bugfix release, and a couple of extras, such as support for subtype items (cocoa beans and other dyes, colored wool), "aimable" warp points and more user-friendly /ma join and /ma spec commands when only one arena is enabled. Furthermore, /ma dooooo it hippie monster has been re-introduced, just for kicks and giggles. It will auto-generate an arenas with names a1-a9, so no names need to be specified. I wouldn't recommend using it though - let's call it a "legacy command". The biggest bugfix is probably the 'players being able to keep items with /ma leave'-fix.

    Would there be a way to disable ghast explosions? It's been tearing my arena down even if I've had either softrepair/forcerepair/protect on. Had to turn them off but they're just so keewt, you knoow.

    Also you think you could make it compatible with mcMMO? Apparently you don't get xp in taming with your wolves for some reason. Besides that: mcMMO and MobArena works so great together D:

    question: I'm not sure if it's MC/Bukkit/or this, but have arrows been limited or given some sort of 'reload' time? I used to rapid fire arrows before (just spam click) and it'd work, but now if I do that it returns all the ones that don't visually fire. I'm currently at work and my computer isn't on to connect to and check the config, so I figured I'd ask here :D

    New problem. I used the auto generate and named it castledefense and when i go to do /ma join castledefense it says its not setup yea. I did /ma setarena and tried /ma addarena. Neither work, and it still says the arena hasnt been setup yet. So I setup some warp points and a lobbyregion with the same error.
  9. Im using MA just recently and cos other mobs dont drop loot, so I thought might be a bug that slimeballs get dropped *shrugs*

    @Beldrama - I'll look into it. I thought they would be cancelled out just like Creeper explosions, but I haven't actually used Ghasts and Giants myself because they're so wonky anyway. With regards to mcMMO, talk to Rpa;otj - he is using MobArena with mcMMO, and AFAIK does not have problems with taming exp.

    @ACStache - The arrow stuff isn't related to MobArena. I'm not sure if 1.7.3 added some restrictions though.

    @kizwik - I don't know what you're doing wrong, but "/ma auto-generate castledefense" correctly generates a working MobArena. Did you get any errors in the console window? Try making a custom arena instead.

    @Zothen - Slimes only drop slimeballs because the smaller slimes aren't added to the monster set, so their drops won't get cleared. I put this on lowest priority to fix, because slimeballs don't have any actual, game-breaking use anyway.

    when i use any command related to mobarena like /ma spectate it just shows a list of commands, any idea on what is going on.

    Hey, quick question...
    Did you drop GroupManager support in the latest 2 or 3 updates?
    Just wondering, because.. I have the permission nodes set up as it says to, but after someone joins, it says they don't have permission. (Selecting a class and readying up)

    The older version works just fine though... (0.92-1 i believe it was)

    No errors in the console.

    Just for the record, everything else works, and i can create and edit arenas properly. But it's pointless if no one can use it... :p

    @Bloobubba - Please use pastie/pastebin or CODE-blocks when you post those logs. Your issue is with Permissions plugin. You're using GroupManager, it seems, but for some reason it's not working. GroupManager works perfectly fine with MobArena, however, as confirmed by the presence of both on my own server.

    @Blackswordsman - Nice to hear from someone who ISN'T having problems with MobArena ;)

    @GarretSidzaka - Well, then there's not much I can do :( I am planning on making another version of MobArena that works like the old Fight-plugin by Deminetix, because from what I can tell, it isn't going all that well for the PVPArena guys, and MobArena is pretty much so far from Fight (code-wise) at this point, that I should probably just branch MobArena and "PVPize" it. I would really love it if you could find some time to do a little more troubleshooting. Note that the "could not pass event x to plugin y" contain very valuable information. Please post these stacktraces in a pastie/pastebin, or in a CODE-block, so I can help you find out what's going on.

    @L24D - GroupManager works just fine with MobArena, but it wasn't supported before v0.92. Read the Wiki on how to set up Permissions :)

    @tuderen Yeah I know, but for whatever reason in my server, when I use, "iron_ingot" in the mob arena config, console throws an error telling me its an incorrect name.

    @greenlizardgamerz - Like Flamers says, just add more classes and make sure they have the correct syntax. Read the Wiki.

    @Blackswordsman - Like tuderen says, you don't technically ever need to use the item IDs. The Material types just have unintuitive names sometimes. You use item numbers 265, 312 and 313 in your after-branch, which have Material types iron_ingot, diamond_leggings and diamond_boots respectively. In your every-branch, you use 341, 348, 48 and 332, which are slime_ball, glowstone_dust, mossy_cobblestone and snow_ball respectively :) These names work perfectly fine for me. At least as class items. Can you confirm that they work as class items, but not as rewards?

    @L24D - Permissions-nodes have existed since v0.92. But yes, it should work if you simply give default groups 'mobarena.classes.*' for all classes.

    @GarretSidzaka - I'm not sure what you mean with your "first" statement. If you mean that I should test the plugin myself, I do. I test it very thoroughly the best I can, but I don't have the means of rallying 20 friends every 30 minutes for play tests, and I don't have a server full of people and 100 different plugins to wade through for bugs. Trust me when I say that the easiest way for both of us, is if you grab the new version, see if your problems are solved, and if not, post the stacktraces you get so I have something to work with.     Agreed. Using "repeater" and "redstone_repeater" both give me this error.

    Also, I get an eror every time I punch the iron block to enter the arena. It teleports me in, but no mobs spawn.

    @garbagemule if you didn't restrict arrow spamming then it must be either MC or Bukkit, and I haven't installed 1.7.3 yet, so it's not that either :D. thanks though.
    I'll post a thread in Bukkit's help section and see what I get. I couldn't find anything in the version history on the minecraft wiki about restricting arrow spam. then again I've been known to skip over things and that's a looooooong list to look through

    @garbagemule Well the ones that have the item ID's are ones that were giving me issues when I first started using this plugin. Those issues could have been bugs or me not really knowing how everything was supposed to be setup back then. They work 100% fine for me so I didn't bother changing them.
    As with the iron_ingot, I changed that one to the ID today when I updated to the latest version of Mob Arena. When I first started my server with the new update it said iron_ingot was not a valid name so I just changed it to the ID and didn't have an issue.
    I should have some time this weekend to mess around with settings since my server oddly enough is less active on the weekends. I'll keep you informed if I have problems using the Item Names rather than the ID.

    ocassionally getting a glitch where my wolves are coming out the arena with me, using 2 arenas now

    are you using mcmmo? it has an anti-arrow spam option

    Came across another couple items while playing around with MobArena.

    If the arena's chunk is not loaded, joining the arena causes you to die. Upon death, you are brought back to your original spawn point, but you're still "in the arena", so the world acts strangely (can't open doors, and disconnecting after grabbing items causes you to lose those items). Not sure how you want to handle this (either force-load the chunk, or somehow cancel the "in-arena" status upon death).

    Otherwise, loving this! Gives my players the ability to get slime balls. :D
