I run a survival server with an economy. Working for what you get is important. So if players want to save time, and travel more safely, by warping they have to pay for it. Currently this is a flat rate fee to use a warp (Warpz0r, paying with BOSEconomy money). This seems inadequate to me. I'm wondering if it would be possible to setup a warp plugin that would scale the cost of warping with the distance traveled. Perhaps it could count the number of chunks between the player and the warp point? I don't know how easy this would be to do. My programming knoledge is limited to simple scripting. What do you folks think of the idea?
Or they could use pythagorean theorem to solve the exact distance. It wouldn't be very difficult to create, but I'm swamped for time right now.
