No, no tax. I think tax is only for Canadian customers? Not sure.

That credit is just because they took away credit or whatever it is, for the hardware upgrades that I did.

I have someone I know that is from Canada and just got a Yesup server like that. I will ask him if he paid tax.

I'm going to open a ticket with them and ask, but if it's true, then hmm... I doubt I'd manage to use 1TB of bandwidth, the estimate for this month is 125GB...

It would be a pain in the butt to move, so maybe after the Hunger Games project is completed. However, 1gbps + faster CPU + faster drive + SSD options + cheaper vs 100mbps + 8 cores but slower + slower drive + no SSD options is a hard choice.

Eh yeah it's always a hard choice.

Hard drive choices are sure nice, yeah. I got another one for RAID 1 for only $5. I see it costs like $20+ at other hosts.

Bandwidth though isn't that bad. If you are about to go over the limit, then you purchase 1 TB for $9 on the fly.

    Yeah.

I just talked to them, it went well, no tax for me and he also offered me an upgrade to 16GB for free.

    $54 for all this?!?!

    i3 - 3.1GHz - 2c/4t
    16GB RAM
    500GB drive
    32GB SSD
    1gbps port
    1TB BW

Ordering in a day or two :D

I hope they can install CentOS 6 minimal instead of 5.6.

Yeah, they may be able to, you just have to leave that in the comments. There was no option for Debian, so I told them in the comments what to install. I was very, very picky with my partitioning and they did it exactly as I told them to.

Speaking of that, what partitioning scheme did you ask for? I'm not sure what I'll do.

And I'm most likely not going to bother with a SSD for now.

All I did, was have 4 main partitions, one for /, swap, boot and one for var?

Forgot exactly what I had done, but I hate LVM, so I had them all be primary partitions. Honestly though, any setup works, but I am just picky as this is what I use on all my boxes, as it works and is easy to recover from hard drive failures.

I didn't' have them touch the SSD. I mounted that myself, as /ssd later. My startup script handles all the symlinks and make sure the worlds are symlinked from the disk to the SSD.

Works great so far, no issues.

I'll just say I want centos 6 minimal, and let them do whatever they want partition-wise, then scp all my data from my old dedi and update dns.

Sometime down the line I'll get a SSD, but a plain old drive is more than enough for now.
