Minecraft 1.1 vs. 1.2.2 - Took too long to login

Today I upgraded from Minecraft 1.1 to 1.2.2 with the result that every login attempt to my Craftbukkit server resulted in the error message "Disconnecting /192.168.1.4:40848 : Took too long to login".
Luckily I had a backup of Minecraft 1.1 (under C:\Users\You\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft) and could restore. My craftbukkit-1.1-R4 comes direct out of the jar with no extra plugins.
Why can't I log in with the new Minecraft 1.2.2?

This isn't really bukkit as they havn't released a build for 1.2.2 but have you updated your server? That really helped me as I tried connecting to my 1.0 server from a 1.1 client and it spat out the same error.

 

There are dev builds out of 1.2.2. They can be found here.

OP, to fix your problem you must update CraftBukkit to 1.2.2. Dev builds can be found here, but it is recommended to wait until they either have a Beta or RB for 1.2.2.

 

Sorry - Just found them but you do have to update to 1.2.2.

 

As you can only get the dev Bukkit 1.2, I would suggest rolling your minecraft client back to 1.1 until the craftbukkit update is released. As Craftbukkit does not yet support 1.2 (unless you use the dev), you will not be allowed to log in if you updated your minecraft client. I suggest trying to find a download for the old 1.1 mincraft and continue to click "not now" when the update prompt comes up until Craftbukkit is updated to support minecraft version 1.2... It should not be too long for Craftbukkit to come out with a new release, but in the meantime, anyone who has updated minecraft to 1.2 will not be able to log into a craftbukkit server (unless the get the bukkit beta or development releases.

 

It will take craftbukkit a few weeks to update and as you can see at the top they are replacing old and buggy code so that could take even longer sadly.

 

Mine works just fine, besides some plugins being broken, we're having fun with the Jungle biome

They've already completely the clean up of code, that is why plugins will break starting at R5 and up. An RB should be out tomorrow.

Awesome - I just noticed that you are posting on the 2 threads that I am responding to as well.

 

You gotta clarify.... Your what works fine? If you mean you have downloaded minecraft v1.2, it works because you a) are using the dev craftbukkit or b) are on a vanilla server. If you mean anything else, plz re-read my post...

I can't find the 1.2.2 server update, even on www.minecraft.net. Is there a link for a download of the updated server .exe?
Is it not released yet? I still have the 1.1 server
Google's turned nothing up except for pirating for the newest version of minecraft, and youtube videos about having a 1.2.2 alpha server.

i had the same problem and i have 1.1-R6 an recommended build

 

Here is the link to the dev builds guys: link. Use them cautiously, as they are dev builds! Make sure to backup your worlds/plugins before using them. Remember, there will be bugs in the dev builds!

I recommend waiting for the RB, but you can use the dev builds. They should work fine.

Btw, 1.1-R6 is for Minecraft 1.1 hence the '1.1' in it. If it has a '1.2' in it, that means it is for 1.2. Do not use a 1.2.2 build, as those are for 1.2.2.. Use the 1.2.3 builds. Remember that these are dev builds!
