Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.

    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.

Is there any land management that works with Towny to help control areas outside of towns? Example, I have a temple I want to preserve that nobody is part of. However I want mobs and pvp to be enabled in said temple. Usually you would use something like world guard to flag the region and set up properties on it. Is there a way to accomplish this with something that will play nicely with Towny?

Read this, you can create an NPC-controlled town. Set the mobs and pvp toggles to on in the town.

Can you have multiple npc towns? (I assume yes)

    Yes

    Big heads up!

We've found a flaw in 1.1-R6 that breaks TownyChat, probably other plugins.
It is fixed in a dev bukkit build for 1.2.

Until you update your server to 1.2, do not use R5 or R6 recommended builds of bukkit.

Edit: Towny is not ready for 1.2 so don't try it.

See the first post on the next page.

Are you keeping the register dependency? It's horribly out of date, and won't be updated for R6/1.2 etc. Any chance for a move to Vault once and for all?

Guess what got updated to R6, that's right, register! It's never been out of date, it only just broke from changes in R5/R6 (but you can't hold that against it, since R5/R6 breaks every plugin.) Get the amazing, updated Register 1.6 plugin HERE.

Turn it off in the right place.

    2nd Big Heads Up!

There's a tentative release of Towny made for R6!

If you want to update to RB 1.1-R6 you can use:
    -Towny 0.79.1.0
    -Townychat 0.23
    -Questioner 0.6
-Register 1.6 (if you're using any eco plugin other than iconomy 5.01)

On a side note, if you're still using iconomy 5.01 like some of us you probably noticed some commands/perm nodes broke with the arrival R4. Iconomy 5.01 has been forked and works with R6, get it here.

LlmDl TY! You have saved the server from endless hassle.

I run a server that has nearly 100 towns. Whenever I start or reload my server, it takes a ton of time for the flatfile to load up. I would definitely approve of hooking this plugin into MySQL - there would be less chance of corruption and would speed up my loading time.

Also, will my version of 1.1 towny be compatible or convertable to 1.2?

  11. ElgarL , it seems that icon 5.01 is no longer working on the mc 1.2 bukkits. Also register is not working too and horribly outdated. Also you refuse to support vault.
So, how shall we hook towny to any economy plugin right now?

Yeah I just updated from IC5 to IC6 due that. So now looks like we're at a stalemate.

  13. I'm not answering this as you didn't even bother to read the last page of posts. Heck, you didn't bother to read the last 5-6 posts.

    and then
    - Just saying.

Ahhh minecraft updates full of total crap, like cats. Instead of true backend support for MP.

  15. Granted. But you simply could have added the register link to the first post where it belongs, right? Because Ive looked there before Ive posted and the link is..outdated.
So yeah, Im sorry that I havent used the time after comming home from work to check the last 200 posts. Point taken... =/

Thanks, forgot to strikethrough that first Heads Up post.

That'll happen when the next towny release is actually released. You did only have to read my post at the top of the page.

    Get more money :D

    wilfmeister

So like Mr_H4mm3r said, you need more money. This depends on what economy plugin you're using if any. If you are using iConomy and you're the admin of your server and you have set that in your permissions then you can simply do the command
    Code:
    /money set <your_username> <ammount_in_numbers>
obviously without the <>. got it?

I will donate money if you add MySQL support. Adding MySQL would remove the necessity of the backups feature and speed up reloading times. Overall it would be a huge plus for towny.

We have been using Factions for around two months now, because of the issues Towny had.

    ElgarL

Does towny still crash sometimes on reloads, Where it says it can't read a username and then it breaks the whole plugin?

Like "Towny can't read John" Or something like that, which used to happen all the time and the only way to fix is to run a backup, because even if you removed the File for John it would just go to a new user, then a town, then a nation.

So has that been fixed or not?

Ranks automatically appear, but however they're just plain white text, I want those prefixes in colors.

    Right now it's:

    [world][member]name

And I want the part [member] To be colored etc. but how?

  24. Offline

    Fuzzlr

You need to add color codes, like &1, &2, etc. to the TownyChat configuration file, or add the color codes before your permissions prefix.

I am using GroupManager, I try and give the permission node towny.wild.destroy but it doesn't work. Only this will work towny.wild.block.{block id}.destroy and I don't want to do this for every single block. I have Towny, GroupManager and Bukkit updated to the latest builds. Any way to fix this?

  26. Offline

    LlmDl

Neither Elgarl nor I see any of it but we do have the odd admin experiencing it. It's still related to crashing/who knows what.

Make sure your GM is up to date, towny.wild.destroy should work fine.

    LlmDl
So if it happened before, its most likely to still happen?

  28. Offline

    LlmDl

There's been a couple things fixed probably, hard to say. We don't get very many re-producible corruption bugs. On a fresh install I'd think you wouldn't have any. It's probably caused by general server-instability.

    Hello,

I am having issues with the latest towny v0.79.1.0, and permissionsbukkit 1.6

If I use any of the permisisons node for towny.wild . , the server will not load(no errors) Just hangs, and players cant connect. If I remove the towny.wild . permissions. The server loads fine..

    Any ideas.

This permissions.yml has not changed, and worked prior to the latest Towny and permissionsbukkit 1.6

    EDIT:

Looks like it's these 2 nodes that cause it !
    • towny.wild.build
    • towny.wild.destroy
anyone else having issues with these nodes and permissionsbukkit 1.6 locking up the server?

    good, thanks
    now i creater a town
but how do i make the town are BIGGER?
    and 1 more thing
how do i secure a my house , i mean, that not everybody to enter it

  31. Offline

    Mr_H4mm3r

First you need to deposit money into the town! Use /town deposit (money amount)
    then you can /town claim
this will claim a area of 16*16 but the area need to be together with the rest of the city or you will need to make a outpost :) I don't know if you can secure it but other's NON members of the city can't grief it :).. I suggest using LWC for chest protection :)
