    Hello,

I'm using jobs for more then a half year now.
But the last months it didn't get really updated anymore.
He made it work for 1.0 but not really bug fixes and new features.
He haven't been online for more then a month and there are a lot of bugs.
The source is available on github so you could easy take it and edit and release a new version.
And when he comes back he can just take it over again.
I know there are couple of big servers using this plugin and a lot small ones.
There have been a lot requested new features and a lot of bugs and exploits.
It would be nice if someone could take the plugin over temporary.
You will make a lot server owners happy i think.

    BukkitDev:

If you wan't to i could make a list with all features requested and bugs found.
But most can be found in the thread on the last pages.

And i will pay 5$ for the one who take this temporary over
and add the new features and fix the bugs.

I've been using Jobs for almost a year now, and it's been running smoothly on our server without any problems.

I don't have time to debug every problem and every single server configuration, and my experience working with the project has shown me that that large majority of the issues are related to not reading installation instructions or looking at any of the configs.

Since the project is open source, I do accept pull requests for features, but unfortunately, nobody ever sends them, it's just users expecting me to add features that I don't want or care about, and expect me to do it for free.

I'll add this here too, since we're on this topic.

If you have a vested interest in the plugin, feel free to write a feature, submit a pull request, and I'll review it and do my best to get it into a release in a timely manner. If you're unsure about something and have a question on best way of implementing/going about, I'll try to point you in a direction.

I'll just say that complaining that I don't spend my free time implementing every new feature you want is just silly. If you actually want something to happen, I'd recommend trying to implement it for yourself. That's exactly what I do when I see a plugin here that has everything I want except feature X. I write the feature myself, give it to the author, and now I get the feature I want, he has a better plugin, and everybody wins. I don't expect the author to add it for me.

Ow hey good to see you.
And your saying its by wrong installing etc.
But things like this really need to be fixed.

Any job that pays money for crafting any items that do not stack, have the ability to give infinite money and job experience in the latest build.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1) Be in a job that pays to craft an item that can't be stacked
    2) Put in the materials to craft more than one of those items
    3) click the item that is being crafted once, and keep it on your cursor
    4) rapidly right click the second item being crafted
    5) You should be getting infinite money and exp easily.

Also items from 1.1 aren't added.

And crafting info isn't shown int he info pages.

The info pages are more then 20 lines so players can't read them.
Multiple pages would be a easy fix.

And i think you or someone should really add this.
Enchant: (set up to get money from enchanting)
Brew: (Set up to get money from brewing potions)
Cut: (Set up to get money from cutting with shears)
Melt: (Set up to get money from melting things in furnace)
Use: (Set up to get money from using things like levers and doors etc)
Ignite: (Set up to get money from igniting netherrack or tnt etc)

And maybe ranks for each job.
And not a global ranking system so we can set the different ranks for each level.
And also be able to set rewards for when players reach a higher rank.
    like:
    Code:
    Master:
    Name: Master
    ShortName: M
    ChatColour: BLACK
    levelReq: 25
    Reward:
    - money:50
    - diamond:3

And a message every 5 minutes to show the player how much money they earned with jobs in 5 minutes.

And this is also a bug i had and im pretty sure its setted up correct but i can't give vips extra jobs.
an some one please tell me why people on my server can not earn money.
These are the permissions I have set up
    - jobs.join.woodcutter
    - jobs.join.hunter
    - jobs.join.builder
    - jobs.join.farmer
    - jobs.join.miner
    - jobs.world.World
    - jobs.world.World_nether
    - jobs.world.World_the_end
And they are unable to earn money or xp with those, but if I do
    - jobs.join.*
    - jobs.world.World
    - jobs.world.World_nether
    - jobs.world.World_the_end

And there are probally more requested bugfixes and new features.
So i hope you or someone will add this or update.
I will pay 5$ if this things get fixed and added.

Well its not supposed to be complaining.
    I'm just trying to help.
I personally can't code plugins i just like adding suggestions and keep things active.
This is the only jobs plugin on bukkit so i'm sure this is and can be amazing.
With just a little more updates and new features new servers will use it a lot more.
And i guess you make plugins and you hope a lot servers will use it.
You won't make something that you know others don't like.
If you don't wanna spent your time updating it its fine i'm just requesting someone to fix the bugs/adding features.
As you said " I write the feature myself,"
I personally can't do this so thats why i'm asking other coders to do it.
Don't see it as complaining or commentar or anything.
I just want to help to keep your amazing plugin on the top and to keep it up to date.

  5. Did you ever add tickets for the bugs? The author can't magically know about them if nobody reports them...

    Yes.. They are all reported.
    And of course he can't

Sure, I guess I could help phrstbrn with the developing of his jobs plugin if he want too.
I am new and not very experienced, but I guess I could help in bugfixing.

Also, I would like to join the team for free. I see that most active plugins have more than 2 developers. They usually have like 3 or 4.

For only 1 person it can be hard to get enough time to update the plugin.

Yeah indeed and because it is the only job plugin it's big and it need to be active to become bigger.
Thats the reason i started this thread actually.

The most important features/bugs are listed a bit above maybe you can start looking at that.
And try fix/ add some things already
    And msg phrstbun

Authors aren't here to read minds and have people who have never made a plugin before being added as a contributor, like phrstbrn said, if you want to help bug fix you can code it and submit it as a pull request. The beauty of git. worstboy32, instead of "keeping things active" you should actually file some tickets and help document issues. It's unrealistic for devs to be able to fix every little problem you have with the plugin, so instead of acting like some kind of agent for phrstbrn and giving jobs for people to fix stuff for him, how about let him know about some things you might like through tickets, and if he has time to do it he will.

I even quoted that comment in my post... of course I read it..
I understand you think it's awesome and want to keep it updated, but my point is that it's not helpful to anyone to be sitting here talking with other plugin devs about what they should do to help fix your favorite plugin. Let the dev do his work, and if it doesn't work out, you will have to find another plugin. That's just how free software works.

I'm just trying to get more ppl to help fixing bugs and adding more features.
I don't wanna be a agent like you said.
All i do is try to help and make his plugin better.
If i say it wrong it might be my language english is not my first language but i didn't mention it like that.
I just want it to be a bit more active and as ph said he don't wanna spent time adding things maybe others do.
And i because it isn't that active there are also no coders who see it to help him.
So thats why i made the request here so more coders will see it and can add some things for him.
If you still think i act like a agent u can think what u want but thats not how its meant to be.
I wish i never made this thread i just tried to help and many ppl raging about it.

If you read his post he don't wanna spent his time adding things.
And as i said before its the only job plugin.
If i could code good i would do it myself now i'm just looking for someone who can do it for me
or for him for all admins who use jobs. again all i do is try to help but seems its not appreciated.

I agree on this, the Job plugin works great, but the Config file is very picky, if you change something; even after following instructions to the detail, it tends to break...

An example of this would be the Farmer job that comes default within the Config file, a lot of users tend to place sugar cane and break it, resulting in gain from the plant and gain from the break. This is a one way ticket to MASTER and millions of coins (What ever your currency is within your own server). The example: is to add a minus to the plant so instead of them earning 4 coins for planting the Sugar Cane, they LOSE 4 coins: 4 = -4. The program will then decide to have a shi*t fit and will not allow anyone to join a job again. Problem? I think so.

They need to consider setting up a user modification config file base (Mouthful!) for users who have 'magically' gotten it to work and for others to skip around the hassle of debugging.

The plugin is becoming broken, I will not lie about it. People already in jobs; it works great, but for people new to the server, they are unable to join jobs (Bukkit 1.1 R4). I wish for this Plugin to stay alive, it really needs a new dev with some motivation, I know some coding myself, but I just do not have the time, like many other older people who I am complaining to about this (Apologies). But if someone would sacrifice their free time in return for coding this lovely plugin and polishing it off, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

EDIT: Yes, the permissions work, they have been used for months and have not been changed, I've also taken the liberty of checking if something had changed (For the perms) to be sure before posting this.
