Yesterday I updated my server to the new RB.

We never get the "Cant Keep Up" Error in the console.

After updating to the new RB, I am getting spammed with that, and the server tick rating is going from its usuall 19.9 to anywhere from 4-15.

All my plugins have worked fine with no lag on previous dev versions of Bukkit for 1.0.0

    Any Ideas?

Edit: There are also no errors other then the "Cant Keep Up" Message in the console.
Sorry, I kind of posted this topic in the wrong section.

Here are my plugins. They all seemed to work fine with 0 lag running bukkit dev builds of 1.0.0

hatMe, DynMap, bpermissions, bChatManager, WormholeXtreme, WorldGuard, WorldEdit, WorldBorder, VanishNoPacker, Spout, SignColours, OpenInv, NoLagg, NoCheat, MonsterBox, MagicCarpet, Logblock, LWC, Dynmap-worldguard, CommandBook

I can vouch for this too, my server is also suffering from the latest RB.

Care to list your plugins? Maybe we can find something causing this. I would like to fix this asap, as it is bothering me.

    same problem here!
Higher server usage than ever before.

    My plugins are:
    Code:
Admincmd, bananachunk, dynmap, dynmap-worldugard, minebackup, mobarena, PermissionsEx(with chatmanager, modifyworld and permissions), redstoneclockdetector, simplechestlock, ultraban, vault, worldedit, worldguard, worldguardflagger, xAuth
But as I was looking into this I found this bug reported on dynmap's github: https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/issues/499
    Where mikeprimm says:

So that could be the real cause of this problem. Anyway, if you know something more, please write it down.

Yeah. I will try later without dynmap. My server will run at 19.85 ticks... Then randomly, I will get spammed with Cant Keep Up and then the ticks drop to like 4 ticks /second for a minute or sometimes more. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

what are those ticks? how can I count them and what doas it mean?

Theres several ways to count them. I use commandbook to count mine. You can also use NoLagg I believe.
Basically (From what I know) is the server is supposed to do 20 ticks /second
And the ticks control how fast things are getting done. A ussuall day on minecraft is supposed to be 10 minutes, but if you have a lower tick rate, it can make the days longer.
I believe a higher then 20 tick rate is also bad.

    Ok I understand, thank you.

Also it would be great if someone could confirm that something is wrong here or what the solution to this is.

I went back to Build #1576 - I get no more lag spikes or can't keep up messages even with 45 people on. With the RB version I was getting lag spikes and can't keep up messages with 5-10 people on after 30 min and it just got worse from there

Bukkit 1576 I find is the most stable version and it runs with all the updated plugins. These are what plugins I run:

07:29:28 [INFO] Plugins: creaturebox, Questioner, Runecraft, FalseBookCore, BlockHat, bAntiCaps, HeroChat, PermissionsEx, WorldGuard, SuperCauldrons, Vault, Minequery, FoodFiller, LogBlockQuestioner, Spout, SpoutTrade, FalseBookExtra, AutoSave, RegrowingSheepcoat, FalseBookIC, Lottery, FalseBookBlock, NoFarm, iConomy, mcMMO, UnderWaterTorch, SimpleCensor, War, SimpleNews, WorldEdit, LWC, GlowHat, NoDeathMessage, NoCheat, Permissions, LogBlock, CommandBook, LWC-Economy, NoLagg, WorldBorder, ChestShop, ecoCreature, WormholeXTreme, OrebfuscatorSpoutBridge, TownyChat, MobArena, Dynmap-Towny, VanishNoPacket, dynmap, Orebfuscator, Jobs, DeathTpPlus, Towny, Register

note: I found the lag with the RB version the worst when people with enchanted shovels were ripping up the deserts leaving behind zillions of sand blocks on the ground. Just one or two people doing this could bring the server to a grinding halt. #1576 does not have this problem

Has anyone found any new info regarding using #1597 and lag spikes? Those spikes are absolutely killing us on our server. From the info in the previous post, I have started to suspect it is caused by using the enchanted tools, as the lag problems seem to have started after people on our (new) server got enough exp and levels to enchant. Nowadays, every player uses at least one entanted tool or weapon.

From Jenkins, I see that between #1576 and the RB #1597, there were some additions to the code regarding handling of enchanted items, but as I'm not an expert of CraftBukkit code, I cannot say whether this could be the reason. For the moment, and without any extra info, I think the only thing to try out is the latest stable build and see what that does to the lag...

With the latest RB, I never go below 20. no matter how many players (up to 40 atm).

Although Dynmap does sometimes crash the server, when doing renders...

OK, I really start to be quite convinced that it is our provider (Fragnet), or some plugins (doubt it - we have kept the number of them at minimum and have paid huge amount of time to finetune them to minimum load) - and NOT the Bukkit #1597 which is causing our spikes.
