NEW POST (Again Edited):I officially use PTweaks!

NEW POST (Edited): I've switched to NoLagg as my final decision, but recently PTweaks has gotten a HUGE update. It seems to have improved. What do you guys think now?

OLD POST: I've heard both are amazing plugins, but really, which one should I use? At the moment I use Ptweaks because that is what I found first. Then again, NoLag has more features, but most of them are in Ptweaks too. Which one should I use? Should I use both? * Stumped* Please respond, thanks!
If you say neither, can you tell me why?

If TnT is an issue you need nolag. They both do things that will help your server performance. I use them both personally.

Ew no, it does not! They both do the same thing and will overlap and conflict.

I personally use NoLagg. It is updated for 1.00 and uses less CPU.

i thought the opposite because NoLagg seemed to have more features

Nope, even ask the developers of both. The goal of NoLagg is to reduce CPU use.

Ptweaks is a lame ripoff of PerformanceTweaks

Or maybe a revival of the plugin?.....

Performance Tweaks has been long dead and PTweaks has revived it basically. Calling it a lame ripoff is uncalled for.

PTweaks FTW. NoLagg causes sooo much lag on your server if you use all the features.

At the moment I have NoLagg installed.
Ptweaks seems (that doesn't mean it is) to be out based on previous comments.
At the moment, I am thinking about getting both because the vote seems like it. As for 'Neither,' I don't understand why.

I can't remember which, but one of the authors told me to use both. So I'd like to kindly say your wrong.

I just think it would cause too many bugs and problems however there may be certain features of the plugins that are good. I tried performancetweeks before a long time ago and didnt like it although they may have improved since then. I definitly dont think you should run both. Just had a look now and NoLagg looks better to me. I sugest you test one out and if you dont notice any diffrence then it might not be worth running it.

As the maintainer of NoLagg use NoLagg as PTweaks is a forked version of the old PerformanceTweaks it has old code and uses some feature called Ram Reducer witch is all ready included on to Java its self. The Ram Reducer just clears out memory not being used that is hold up in the RAM. NoLagg has been fully rewrite and and uses new code and is updated allot. I do under stand that you were saying that if you enable all features it will cause some lag that is true. NoLagg tries to prevent lag in various ways so enable and disable features that you don't need based of how well your system is. One option I disable is the ChunkLoad option as I don't want chunk to stay in my ram longer than it needs to.

  26. I personally vote NoLagg (Even though I hit the wrong button in the poll), for the reasons above and more. The author of NoLagg ( @bergerkiller ) is a respected developer, and the plugin is constantly being updated. PTweaks, on the other hand, is just a fork of PermissionsTweaks. For the most part, the code is the same, and not much has been added of note, besides a RAM thing which is built-into java.

Thanks for the responses though :)

Let me explain though, why it causes 'a little lag'. A lot of NoLagg's features hammer on network lag and client lag. Examples:
    - Item stack forming
    - Spawn limits
    - TNT and item buffering
    - Lighting fixing
    - Chunk sending queue changing
However, this does require more CPU load to perform. You can't stack items for nothing and you can't obtain and check all entities for nothing. You can't send a chunk without loading the chunk first. The lighting fixing is done from another thread, so it doesn't harm tick lag, but it does use CPU of course.

Things like 'keep chunks loaded' are used to reduce CPU and disk usage. It keeps chunks loaded a bit longer so they don't reload all the time. (and doesn't have to be compressed and decompressed all the time)

Therefore, in my main page, I added the sentence:

Because those are complete different things. Therefore I ask (all the time)
    - What type of lag do you have and what is your configuration? Does disabling x help?

I wanted to add some sort of 'update time' in it too, to check how long certain things take to be executed. I guess it's a good idea to do so. :)

    EDIT

Added update time monitoring, interested in what you get. On my server it took on average 3 ms to update everything, chunk updating and unloading being the most intensive operations.

Also, I strongly discourage using both NoLagg and PTweaks, using both is complete overkill. NoLagg has everything PTweaks has and better, the only problem with NoLagg over PTweaks is that it simply has too many features: it takes longer to process them all. Therefore disable the features you don't need in the configuration. (or increase the update interval)

Sorry, I didn't see the FAQ
I downloaded NoLagg (again) after my server froze. I believe this was because one person was in the PixelArt world and another one in the normal world. Big distance...
I edited about two of the things in the config. I was over confident and expected that NoLagg would have good default settings for most servers. I never thought some settings weren't needed for my server.
Now, people aren't complaining about lag, nor do some of them get disconnected. The server freezes (that started recently) have stopped.
    Thank you guys!!!
