    Background:
Hi there, I have a bukkit server that has been running now for a while and on our "KZ" map we started building some old Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time temples just for fun. The game-mechanics built-in to Minecraft has been enough so far, but to get that extra sense of awesome when you play a dungeon we realized that there was something missing.. the bow!

Everyone that has played the games know that shooting targets and activating a door is quite essential for the series, so my thought was this:

    Idea:
Can one create an addon that lets the bow activate/destroy certain blocks? Doing so could with some design activate redstones and opening doors etc. Would have been really awesome to let arrows destroy f.ex. white wool or when shot on a certain block activate redstone nearby for a set amount of time, like a button, just activated a bit longer perhaps.

As a huge Zelda fan I am looking forward to seeing the coders pov and I really hope for something like it to be possible, I searched a bit and couldn't find any mod related to it, if there is one already I'm just blind and stupid and would love a link to that page. So, thank you in advance and I'm really looking forward to a response :)

Why not try some vanilla ways in the mean time ;) Such as shooting a pinting onto a pressure plate or shooting a minecart off a detector rail to start you off although there are more complicated ways such as using BUD switches with redstone ore or even redstone ore triggering water.

Not meaning to grave dig, but I want to help out if Umbreon is still around to see the alert.

I want to share this with you after seeing your post. I asked a very similar question a while back since I have a similar goal in mind, except in my case I want to make original Zelda style dungeons. Regardless, this addon provides a "similar" effect, though not 100% the same I think it'll accomplish the tasks you're looking for.

Would you mind sharing the server? I wouldn't mind running through some of the dungeons.

Sure, I think this would be a good idea.
No promises, but I'll take a look.

Edit: Seems possible to me, tomorrow I'll see what I can do, I think it would be cool to have this as a plugin.

Thank you very much for the reply, I had forgotten about this post! :)
Got really happy when I recieved the e-mail notification. Hope there is something that you can do about it, I managed to solve one temple, but the places for bows are a bit strange.

Temple: <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url>
    Name: Forest temple!
Quick explanation: In the temple your task is to activate the colored blocks that are hidden around the temple. Buttons are your keys, and can be put next to "locked" doors, and are NOT to be taken away once placed (unless ofcourse you place is so that it cannot open the door...)
Diamond blocks are the blocks that are ment for arrows, currently I've solved so that to activate them you need to put a switch on it (the dungeons main treasure). A redstone-torch is the "boss-key" and you will place it at the end of the dungeon.

Rules! Do not break any blocks, it's designed to be played without doing so. All items you need are located in chest around the temple. All puzzles are solveable without breaking stuff.

Hope you enjoy the temple it's been tested lots of times and should be quite 100%'ish. The only real thing remaining is to build a shell around the complex, so it would look even more nice.. Oh and good luck with the last puzzle.

If you share it, mention me by e-mail [email protected] as it took me a long time to build this stuff :)
