I simply got bored of only two useful ores, so I wanted to make a plugin that includes emerald in the game, but realized that would take months. What I want is Emerald, the texture of the ore block the same texture as diamond, the ore the same texture as diamond, and the block the same texture as diamond, but i want it all to be light green. i also want the tools to be the same color, and have around 752 uses. I want the ore to be around the same rarity (is that the right word?) between gold and diamond. I want it to be mine able with iron, gold, or diamond pickaxes, and want it to occur no higher the Y=30. I know this is a lot, and that's why I wanted to do it on my own. I could attempt to do this by forcing a modifed texture pack on users to replace iron gold or diamond and changing all the tooltips to read emerald instead as long as your users run spoutcraft and you run spout.
well that's not exactly what I was thinking, and I thing what i want would be more of a mod. I'm going to ask on the minecraft forum if I could get the minecraft source code(you do need that for a mod, right?).
Not possible without client mods. You could get in in singleplayer though, but multiplayer would be a pain. Although if you're interested, I happen to have a texture for the ore you're describing. I made it, and you can use it for whatever you want:
I'm kind of bored with just iron, and then diamond. I wanted something more. I'm learning how to mod and make plugins, so I'll probably be able to make it myself soon (as in 2-3 months). The only problem I see with this is that I would need to create another world.
