No Bukkit for 1.9 for a month?

Bukkit, as I'm aware, has adopted the strategy of no pre-release builds. However, since the effective code freeze, no 1.9 official will release. That brings me to the question: Are people with 1.9 servers really going to have to "suck it up" and wait a month and a half. That does not seem like an ideal strategy when Bukkit could be easily updated to accommodate the pre-release. Just my two cents, but I think it should be updated to mind the gap.

Thank you for answering the question in the title of the thread.

  3. The Bukkit Team should really release versions for pre-releases, but only in this kind of situation.

    'Nuff said.

Why? The majority of servers use 1.8.1

  5. Sure, but if bukkit would be released for 1.9 pre or other pre-releases, servers would update. and so the clients did.

Damn, Mojang should never have released these pre-leaked stuff ;(

I don't think the servers would update because 1.9 pre-releases are said to be unstable.

Anyone with that same opinion probably agrees with you.

But I'm convinced that a bukkit version of 1.9 is neither "easy"nor prudent. I think Bukkit's decision is the correct one.

I'm not sure what's so hard to comprehend about this situation. It's a rapidly changing target involving non-trivial amounts of work.
This is from the craftbukkit twitter account.
    Code:
@NerdsWBNerds It's not that easy. Every update shifts obfuscation around, we have to rewrite a huge porition of craftbukkit to compensate

@NerdsWBNerds Huge portion = most of our code. Technically speaking it's everything in nms package, which is a LOT. It takes us a long time.

Dont be angry at them for being lazy, they had to learn to code, and had to write all the builds so far, and yet they continue to release newer updates, i think its a good idea for them to take a break. You can learn to code and make the version yourself, i doubt it'll be easy

Anyone that dares calling the Bukkit devs lazy over not updating to pre-releases deserves a good smack in the face.
Every update takes a lot of time and energy.

And what use is all this invested energy? Just so you can check it out, find it too buggy to actually play on and go back to 1.8.
Or to find a new pre-release next week and people are back to bitching and moaning they want an update.

Every single minute the team puts into the project is a minute more than you could demand from them.
If every dev quit working completely today you still don't have the right to even consider bitching about it.
You should be grateful they invested as much time as they already have.

If it's so easy, do it yourself, Bukkit is Open Source after all. You just need to code the dozens of tools used for de-obfuscation, the de-obfuscation tables for each 1.9 pre-release (Which change EVERY RELEASE). It's easy, go for it :)

Im staying @ 1.8 anyway, but it would be good if the Bukkit Team was preparing something, so that they can give a super fast release on 11-11-11.

Yeah I think it would be silly to think they aren't working on it, or at least getting a jump on it.
BTW Shame on most of you in this tread. For flaming this guy. He was just asking a simple question. Expecially since this is a very unique situation.
BTW2: 1.9 Pre-4 is not buggy... for those of you who said it is.

Repeating this won't make it true.

It's a FEATURE freeze, it is NOT a code freeze.

Even if the team "got a jump on it," I'm sure a lot of the code would switch about come release day, and all the work would (most likely) be for nothing.

Why is who am I a bad thing? I'm not actually on the Bukkit team, I'm just community staff.

no if anything he should have been flamed more, he could just as easily searched to find the reasons the Bukkit team will not make a release for the pre-release version of minecraft

bull shit, i have 2 jars in my bin folder, one for 1.8.1 and the other for 1.9p4, and 1.9p4 is still buggy as hell especially in SMP

I once ate a chocolate chip cookie.
why are people still asking for bukkit pre-release?

Well almost everyone who updates to a pre-release build keeps the current offical jar so no real surprise there. Also, saying something doesn't make it true.
    1.9 has few, noticeable, bugs.
Also a mod should consider locking this thread, not much good that can come of it from here on out.

I didnt call them lazy, i said it wouldnt matter if they were, they need time off for their work.

You can't prepare for random code obfuscation, it doesn't work like that.

  24. Who you are isn't bad. I've just seen enough of your posts to know you actually have a brain in your head. You had a cat for your icon before the asdf stegosaurus and I didn't realize it was you immediately.
