    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

    • Classes
      • Permission nodes to set what classes are obtainable for the default user
      • Custom class names
      • 'Parent | Child' optional relationship, (example HEALER -> CLERIC)
      • Configurable inventory restrictions
    • Permitted Skills
      • Skills in the base platform of Heroes
      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills
      • Adjustable through skills.yml or overwritten in classes.yml
    • Permission Skills
      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level
    • Exp-Sources
      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs
      • LOGGING - exp for jacking lumber
      • PVP - exp for PVP
    • Health/Damage
      • Set environmental damage
      • Set monster health/damage
      • Allow bed healing for players to regenerate health in bed!
      • Set player health (works with heart ratios)
      • Set across the broad item damage or override single classes in class.yml
    • Mana
      • /mana - shows the current amount of mana - caps at 100%.
      • Server wide regen of mana - default is 5% mana regen every 5-6 seconds.
      • Configurable mana regen rate

      • EXP-Sharing - on/off
      • PVP - on/off
      • Bonus Exp per extra party member

    • /hero - the base command for Heroes (also a help tip)

    Antidote - Cures you of Poisons!
    AssassinsBlade - Your blade applies poisons!
    Backstab - Extra damage when attacking from behind
    Bandage - Bandages the target + Cures Bleeds
    Barrage - Fire a Barrage of Arrows around you.
    Battery - Gives your target mana
    Blackjack - Occasionally stuns your opponent
    Bladegrasp - Blocks incoming melee damage
    Blaze - Sets everyone around you on fire
    Bleed - Causes your target to bleed
    Blink - Teleports you 4-5 blocks
    Bolt - Calls a bolt of thunder down on the target

    I dont know if people have reported this before, but when someone new joins my server, it doesn't make a .yml for them. It just says "could not pass event player-login"

    It says in the header that the version is 1.2.5 and is for 1318 yet the only download is for 1.2.3 and on your bukkit dev the 1.2.5 download says it is recommended for 1060

    dude..if your still using permissions 2.x you need to crawl out of the rock your living under and upgrade to superperms. They aren't that much different and its an easy switch

    it has a built in permissions bridge. very easy, there are even scripts to do it for you

    I have a problem. Sometimes. and for only certain players. I'm getting a error in console say "Could not pass event ENTITY_DAMAGE to Heroes " And that person can't take damage or do damage. The console gets spammed everytime they swing and get "hit"

    Can't figure out whats causing this. Also this does go away randomly for that singled out player. And the console has no errors on startup. Please help

    Problem here too.

    I'm using GroupManager, in Bukkit 1317.
    You're plugin works fine, without error message, but when I try to choose a class, I have a "You don't have permissions" massage.

    I'm admin, so I have all the permissions I need for all plugins installed... except yours !
    Why ?

    Hey i have a problem. my Member's got to much damage on fire, falling or monsters. A Skeleton does 1 hit and fire too.

    I see that there's a new version (1.2.5) and that it supports #1318 (#1317 is the RB, is that a typo?) but I don't see any new file uploaded, where's the new version's DL link?

    Edit: Sorry, I guess the download link was for the newest version xD

    Ok, it's starting to take on my nerves...

    I was using GroupManager, trying to choose a class. "Heroes : you don't have permission for Archer".

    'kay, fine. I change for PermissionsEx : same problem.

    I have checked my config files for heroes 1.2.5 and PermissionsEx : each players groups have acces to heroes.class.archer and there's no yml errors.

    So where's the problem oO

    Although I Can Still Pick My Class I Cant Use The Skills.

    Then you have marked a skill that isnt present in your SKILLS folder.

    The dev version of Heroes should resolve this issue with PEX.
    Correct
    This plugin was created before Spout existed - it works with Spout as well.
    It works for 1317 - or at least should. Expect a 1.3.0 Heroes soon that has many changes.
    Need more info.

    Hmm for some reason putting this onto my server breaks the faction command /f home

    Any ideas? :confused: I'm a little puzzled haha.

    Hi, I would like to know two things, First do I need iConomy or Permissions for this plugin to work? And Second, Am I able to add my own classes with the pre-defined skills to the classes file?

    i just downloaded you plugin 2-3 hours ago
    but idk why but you pluggin bugged my server....
    just before adding your plugin to my server i was playing with a friend
    i told him to rejoin the server beceause ill restart it cuz i added your plugging
    but when i lunched my server nothing was working
    we are no more able to join my server......
    i have in all 4 server and all 4 are no more working right after adding your plugin
    even me or my friend.....
    so anwer me fast plz

    and sry for my english it late atm and very im annoyed about this prob .....

    Yes.
    They arent required, it should fall back on ops if no perms are found. P3 is fully supported, BukkitPerms/PEx are supported for 95% of the plugin in the dev version that is releasing soon.
    No clue, sounds like an issue somewhere else or a memory thing.
    Are you trying to use permission-skills?

    Well, that solves my first question, it seems your really busy but i would like to know how to make another class. I tried to add a class named Assassin as a parent (maybe that was the mistake??) and when i turn on my server i get a bunch of severe errors. I made sure the format of the new class matched that of all the other ones and all of the assassins skills were from the skills.yml. maybe its because i added Bow to permitted weapons? Please answer back soon as i would really like to add assassins to my server

    Read the config/post - all this information is already covered. Heroes is a COMPLEX plugin - if you dont put in the work / research you might as well go to a different plugin.

    Well you might consider this as help but I don't. If you do tell me and I will go to bukkit.dev. So I'm kinda having problems understanding the config and I don't feel like making my own classes so can I have the Herocraft heroes? Its ok if you don't want to let them out but I really like them. I might be missing something and you do have them released to the public but I did not see anything so I just posted this.

    @Herocraft Coding- Hello there! I have noticed you updated your plugin recently. I have one issue with the new update. It seems that you have made it so that we cannot toggle your damage system. Our server hasn't been using you damage system so this seams to be a gamebreaker. If there is any way that you could make the damage system toggle-able again it would be appreciated. :3

    yeah we at minesworn use McMMo and Magic Spells successfully with your plugin. However the only way for them to work togethere is if you allow me to disable the damage system. Im begging you to renable this toggle. I will even go and donate right now to prove im commited.

    But if this doesnt get fixed i will be foreced to remove your plugin. there is no reason to even have permissions skills if your damage system bugs any plugins we use with this.

    basically if you get hit by an mcmmo weapon, jump from a height, or have a 'magic spells' spell cast on you, all your "leveled up" hears just evaporate! with some pretty hilarious consequenses. like right after you took away the damage system toggle, people were dying from falls of 3 BLOCKS!!! hilarious.

    i did just donate so please dont make my foray into using this plugin a monumental waste of time. and feel free to come to my server and see how we implement it. were will be hovering at your #637 or so build till we can address this.
