Okay, I just cant get this to work. Im running the latest ubuntu in terminal, i downloaded the entire package and moved chunkster.jar to the server folder, i made sure it has permissions tried running it as sudo, tried "worlddirektory" <wd> <"wd"> everything i can think of. I keep getting the same error,
    Code:
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'

Any ideas? I've tried googling the error with little to no luck. I really need this map back.
    Thanks for the help.
    Ferk

Edit: Dont you just hate it when you spend hours trying to get something working, and then you finally ask for help, two minutes later you solved it yourself. Well, almost by my self, like Blaize9 said "java -jar Chunkster.jar world /opt/bukkit/world" works. First the world name, then the world folder.

Edit2: Looking at the instruktions again i realize that it says world (space) directory... Oh well, I'm dumb.

I signed up for this forum just to come in here and thank you profusely for creating this tool. I used it like some of the other people here to find the bad chunk and use my backups. Thank you so much.

On a side note, the program still makes you put in some random filler before the world name so I had put:
    >java -jar Chunkster.jar stuff ./center

To the poster above, put it in the main Minecraft server directory and then just put like mine. You probably need ./world or something to that effect. Whatever the name of the world is.

    Mphisto

    Thanks for saving our server

I had the "pointer" error initially but use double "world" to solve it
E.g Your folder world name is "Sexy" so in command prompt, you put java -jar Chunkster.jar Sexy Sexy

    Thanks once again

    Imm0rt41

i watched a video on how to use this, and it said to enter into command prompt first

    cd /*server folder*

is that correct? because when i do that it says it can't find the specified path. i enter my full server folder name in place of *server folder*. if thats not correct, can you add to the first post what exactly you type, because all you say is

you don't tell us where to enter the path to our world name, or where to run that command from, or the format for anything except the command at the end.

Hey, Xeon! I figured out why we're having to put in more than just the world directory parameter. You're telling java that you want TWO parameters, and you're only looking at the second parameter.

Change line 17 from "if (args.length != 2) {" to "if (args.length != 1) {", and line 21 from "File worldDir = new File(args[1]);" to "File worldDir = new File(args[0]);". Java doesn't give the program file as a parameter, so if you only want one parameter, args.length should be 1 (or any subsequent parameters should be ignored). And, since the actual args[] array elements start at args[0], that's the first parameter.

Once I changed those lines, this worked a treat on my poor corrupted world. Thanks for the fix, and I hope my two cents help in some way!

Hello. I've tried every tutorial and method on here but I cannot get it to run.

I have all the paths right from what I can tell but when I hit enter it just lists the bottom 2 lines in yellow. I follow exactly as one video did, and nothing.

Here is the world file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2969143/world.zip

    Ironblood

You'll have to make a little change to how you're doing it, since the .jar file that he's posted needs a little tlc (look above for my correction to the source).

Instead of "java -jar Chunkster.jar Z:/BUKKIT/world/", try "java -jar this_parameter_gets_ignored Z:/BUKKIT/world". The program expects two parameters and ignores the first one, so feel free to replace the "this_parameter_gets_ignored" with whatever you want, as long as there's no spaces in it.

For those that are having problems like Sump and I had, I'm attaching my copy of Chunkster, including the modified source. Just unzip the file, and follow Xeon's instructions.

And, for those that can't download an attached file, here's another link: <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url>

Glad to help. Just hate to step on the toes of the one that actually did all the work. THANKS AGAIN, XEON!

@bearster: The only thing I can think of to suggest would be for Xeon to release a new version, since this one is obviously not working for you. The only changes I made to the code were the ones I listed earler, that fixed the parameters issue. Otherwise, the code is identical. If his didn't fix your problem, mine won't either.

    Sorry, sir.

all I get when I try to run it is:
    Code:
chunkster: region pointer repair utility v0.1
    usage: java -jar Chunkster.jar <world directory>

Are you using the one I posted, or Xeon's? Also, how are you running it? Are you running it from Windows, Linux, or Mac? You need to make sure you're running it from a command line, and if there are any spaces in the directory, make sure you enclose that directory in quotes.

Edit: Glad to hear it's working for you. Like I said earlier, all the credit goes to Xeon, all I did was fix the parameters in the source.

Xeon: You're more than welcome to take any credit for any changes I made to this, since it's YOUR code that's doing all the ACTUAL WORK. All I did was fix two lines, so it knows what to work on.

To Scan Nether Worlds Say "java -jar Chunkster.jar world_nether/DIM-1 world_nether/DIM-1" Without Quotes

For me, all that happens is a little command pops up and goes away...
    If anything at all...
I'm running 32 bit Windows Xp...

Or, if you grab my modified copy, you can just use "java -jar Chunkster.jar world_nether/DIM-1", instead.

Try running it from a command prompt, following the directions in the first post, rather than double-clicking it in explorer.
