    Server Spec:
    -----------------------------------
    2 x Xeon 2.13 Ghz
    12 Gb Ram
    100 mpbs down/up
    Centos 5
    Java 7

    Problem explication :
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We tried to find the problem by eliminating causes (All these test were on Centos 5),
first we thought it was our plugin so we launched the same map without any plugins(only craftbukkit)
same problem the map had lag spike every 30 or 20 sec randomly...

then we tough of too many people in the server (sometime lag spike at 30 people other time at 120..)
after one night after only 4-5 people we tough it wasn't the number players online(We have 12gb ram...)

after this we searched on the map question,
we changed the map for a new map with our plugin, no more lag spikes...
we tough it was a problem with the map, we loaded a backup on the old map before the lag, nothing changed, lag was back :(

The problem is that its the 5th time we are changing map for the same problem... after sometimes our map become unstable and lost forever... so Loosing MANY players.

If you could help us with this problem or you know this problem or anything. We changed host to have support for minecraft we only changed host for that only reason.

If you could fix our problem, that would be so helpful.
I could even pay the person who would help me with my problem.
IF and only IF the problem is resolved.

    Thanks for reading my message

If you can help me a big thanks.

I have a problem like this also, but it only occurs after our server has been running for about 4 or 5 hours. I use simpleRestart now which restarts my server every 2.5 hours..

Do you have this problem? Or are the lag spikes random at any time? I can't help really, but I'm just looking for others with a problem that is near mine.

They are random and we have auto restart each hour :O

  4. Maybe you should check and see if the server is read/writing stuff when you are experiencing the lag. And while your at it maybe the up-/download of the server and also the memory usage. Maybe also a ping from client to the server to see if the routing is going well.

Just a few tips to just try and see where the lag is coming from.
