[REQ] [Spout] Region-based Music Plays

Well, this has probably been asked before, but I feel it should get a little more attention. If there is already a confirmed/rejected reply to this, I'm sorry for wasting your time.


So I was sitting there one day, thinking about an adventure SMP map. And then it crossed my mind "Wouldn't it be awesome to walk down a corridor, and then randomly hear a ghostly sound? Or hey, maybe stand in front of a sign and get it read to you aloud? Ooh, and alarms going off and such!"

So my thought is; As Spout can already send, play and download sounds to your client, would it be possible to utilize this with some kind of region-based system, like WorldEdit or Regios?

Therefore, my plugin request is as such:
A Spout-based plugin that can

• Play music to a player when he enters a region
• Define music regions
• Preferrably hook into WorldEdit

I was just about to post this request, so why not bump it for attention. I have seen it work with BukkitContribEssentials, but the defined areas was written in code and we have moved on to Spout now. So could we perhaps get a tool (just a Golden Hoe or something) that we can use to define areas. And if it was created inside an a previous region-music-area it would overlap in that area.

My Regios plugin will be able to do this when I complete the recode in a few days.

 

Perfect! I didn't quite want to get an entirerly new music plugin just for this.

I'd support a plugin that could do this. There are plugins that do it already and I'm sure Adam's Regios plugin will work very well, but I'm a fan of plugins that don't add a lot of features. In other words, I'd like to see a plugin specialized for this. I'd install RyveMusic if the Jukeboxes worked more like Jukebukkit and I'd install Regios if I didn't already use WorldGuard. SpoutEssentials has too many features. I don't want to have the server working in the background to maintain features I would never use.

A plugin that specializes in region music would be great especially if it hooked into WorldGuard for the regions. I'd like to be able to allow my players to set their own region's music.
