    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

I know you can make zones within zones, but I can't seem to be able to do it.

Is there something in the config about that? I couldn't find it.

I can't seem to run any /res or /resadmin commands from the console. All I get is the help. I'm running CB1060 and Residence 2.3.9. Commands work fine in game.

:( Il look into it... Actually, i might have accidently reveresed the logic in the dev version right now... it might only be allowing somthing that does match the regex through.... leme go poke at it...
EDIT: nope, more like it simply wasn't working at all :( I messed somthing up while i was changing it to send a error message to the player rather then simply replacing the invalid characters with underscores. Should be fixed now :)

Can both of you post the error from your console? Also, what permissions are you using?

Hah, glad to hear you got it sorted :D I'll definitely keep this more verbose output in the plugin as its quite helpful it seems :)

Ahhhh, ok, I need to make residence automatically lowercase the blacklist group names as well so that case doesnt matter there anymore :) Il get it fixed, thanks :)

This is a permissions error, read the red text at the top of the original post for the fix.

Can you try the new development version of the plugin? It has more verbose error messaging, and it seems that a common problem is that Residence loads before your Multi-World plugin does. This causes residence to not find your other worlds, and so any residences on those worlds become invalid and this causes it to error. There is a "MultiWorldPlugin" config option in your config under the Global section that can help with this.

Yea, I'm hoping to eventually be able to make some commands work from console, but at the moment they don't :( Its not a bug, just something I haven't gotten around to yet.

Hmm, looks like it might be a bug with the PreventRentModify option, leme take a look at it...
EDIT: Yep, it was a small bug, fixed in the latest development version :)

First off, excellent plugin! I love this plugin, and thanks for making it :D

I'm not sure if this is the right place to report errors but currently ghasts cannot do damage to players on my server -- I assume this is due to the fact I have TNT disabled globally to prevent TNT griefing. However, creepers can still explode like normal. Is there any way to apply this same formula to ghasts, so that their fireballs can explode too ... while still keeping TNT disabled for the nether as well?

As an OP i dont have any issues creating a residence and using the flag "destroy false" but all my users when using the same flag get the error "You don't have permission for this". I'm using Permissions 3.1.6 and bukkit cb1060. Also added "residence.create" in permissions. Any ideas? And no errors when starting the server and residence see's my permissions plugin just fine.

This is handled over the config, check the options available in there. It's under "Groups" and your corresponding group, I think.

I recommend reading the Wiki. There is a lot of very helpful information in there including all commands.
    The command is :
    /res pset <ResidenceName> [PlayerName] [flag] [true/false/remove]

so it could look something like this:
/res pset Home1 grimmy build true

For a complete list of all the flags that you can set, you should look in the wiki. Most are well named though like to turn monsters off you would type monsters false. Hope that helps.

Anyone know why when I try to change the monster flag in my own property it is telling me that the owner does not have permission to change this flag? I am not only the owner of the property but I am an admin/op. Thanks.

Grimmy this is a setting in your config. There is an option to allow the ability to change flags. This is the only place in the default config that all of the flags are listed. If you want anyone to be able to change the flag, set it to true.

yeah, after I asked this I found it on the wiki that the /resadmin command could do things that the/res command could not. I think that changed a little while ago. /resadmin only did things like /resadmin lease set as far as I knew but not it looks like it can do just about any command the normal /res can. W/e, I got it to work now. Thanks!

No matter what I try, anytime I try to change the config file so it'll accept permissionsbukkit, so that nobody but admins can just CREATE houses, the plugin goes corrupt, and then it fails. It says it's on the server and stuff, but when I type /plugins ingame it's gone, and then when i type /res it's also gone from there (Only happens when I edit the config.yml file). Any solutions?

    @bekvon
Would it be possible to add an optional flag called something like "Zoning" that would allow residences to be created in the residence with the flag set to true? So that normal overlap rules would apply to the world except in the zones with this set. This would allow cities to be zoned as residences then the houses in them to be residences as well instead of being subzones, since subzones you own dont show up with /res list.
