    I'm having pisters problem too.
I can join my server but my friends cant it just says connection timed out.
    I'm using hamachi.
Before I had bukkit I used to have a vanilla server using port forwarding and my friends could connect alright.

    Code:
    #Minecraft server properties
    #Sat Jul 16 14:02:15 EST 2011
    level-name=world
    allow-nether=true
    view-distance=10
    spawn-monsters=true
    online-mode=false
    spawn-animals=true
    max-players=20
    server-ip=
    pvp=true
    level-seed=
    server-port=25565
    allow-flight=false
    white-list=false

Make sure they're adding :25565 after the ip when they connect. If that still doesnt work, try a different port

    Its still not working.
I tried running it on port 25565 and on 25566 and adding the :25565 and :25566 to the end of the ip.
    It says it cant access
    C:\Users\Ade\AppData\Local\Temp\hsperfdata_Ade
    C:\Users\Ade\AppData\Local\Temp\etilqs_hsp1zPcI0mOGt3E
    C:\Users\Ade\AppData\Local\Temp\FXSAPIDebugLogFile
because it is being used by another process.
But would this be causing the problem?

Sorry for my dumbness, but what do you mean with "opening up a new command prompt"? If your looking for my java- version it´s 6.22... :p

No that's not the problem. That's a safety thing to make sure your Pc doesn't screw over. Have you remembered to add the port that you forwarded as allowed through your routers firewall?

    Start ->
    run ->
    type in cmd

Im actually testing it from inside my local network on another computer.
Do I have to forward it through the firewall for that?
My friend is outside the network, but he didn't try to connect as I havent got the server working yet

Sorry , you have to use localhost:(port)

If you're inside the network you still have to forward it. Unless you enter the server.properties file and make the server-ip equal 192.168.0.5 (or whatever your pc internal ip is.) then your other pc uses that to connect, but no one outside will be able to

Okay, this is what it says:

    Code:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright <c> 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\*USERNAME*>
And then nothing more happens, and I am able to write freely in the window... So, do you have the info that u were looking for now?

I tried using port forwarding too but that doesn't work either.
I tried my vanilla server today and that works, it seems just to be bukkit for some reason.
I was using your installer but I tried the newb friendly download but the same thing happened.

You have java, but it's Microsoft's retarded version. Go get java 7 from the oracle website ( oracle.com/java) which is rather confusing to find, but works faster than 1.6( but that works too). I linked it in my auto installer post if you can't find it. But basically get that java and you should be able to get it to work

I figured out the problem is nothing to do with bukkit.
I can't ping my pc for some reason.
    But the vanilla server works.

Just one problem, I had a server before the craftbukkit one, and now I'm trying to set up a new craftbukkit server so I can use plugins and such. My problem is that after the portforwarding was finished, I tried to run the craftbukkit server and got a failed to bind to port message (the port was 25565) and a "Perhaps a server is already running on this port?" It also says an address is already in use.

try using a different port. My suggestion would be to use 5775, since that is almost never used by anything else. Also, make sure you check your ip with the ipconfig command before you portforward to it. Better yet, in your router, go to the connected devices page and give your pc a static (unchanging) ip

    Hey!
I have been using the Hamachi method, and it was working great, but I wanted to try out Port-forwarding and I got some problems.
I did all the steps, did exactly what they said, but I can't seem to get it right, they can't join my server with my external ip and port any way I do it. The only way I see it that I could be doing something wrong is the firewall settings, since I can't find any rules where I put in the exception, all I see is:
    "Firewalls settings - Enable SPI,
NAT endpoint filtering with Endpoint Independent/ Address Restricted/ Port And Address Restricted on the UDP and TCP endpoint filtering options,
    Anti spoof-checking,
    DMZ host,
    Application Level Gateway (ALG) Configuration."

I tried turning Windows Firewall off, but with no success.

    Thanks!

maybe try a different port, because sometimes you do end up with conflictson the port, and one of them Noms on the other ;) try using port 5775

    Hi again,
Hamachi didn't work, so i'm trying Port Forwading. I'm doing everything right at http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-300/Minecraft_Server.htm
but when i check it at http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ it says it's closed. Bukkit says this:
    Code:
"timeout" no se reconoce como un comando interno o externo,
programa o archivo por lotes ejecutable.

you haven't done everything right. Server-IP should be left blank for port-forwarding
