HELP, they're cheating!!!

uhmmm.. idk if this post should be here, but you see, some of the people on my server where able to use inv edit on them selves??

WHY!!!?? i ask....
they got themselves unbrakeable armor etc.. thats NOT good for my pvp server :S

im running my server with hamachi becuase some of the people playing haven't purchased the game ( i have purchased the game ), is that why they can inv edit themselves???
this is a very F****D situation...... any suggestions??

 

Well Im almost %88 sure they cant use inv edit on this because they cant get the world data because they are not running the server. So......lol

 

they are, ( i think ). if they're not. then how do they get unbreakable armor then???

 

They may change their names to an OP name and use /give? Check logs... Also, plugins?

 

they might be using Zombe client mod. theres a plugin that's meant to disable that.

but you will need to set up a spout server for that to work, and everyone else will need to use the spout launcher as well.

alternatively, you can put their usernames under "banned-players.txt" and it wont let them in your server. if that doesnt work, look in the server console and find their IP. after that, put the IP in "banned-ips.txt".
also, make sure they didnt make themselves OPs and remove them from "ops.txt" if they are there.

 

I htink sheepyowl might be right or they are using another username then opping themselves

 

actually what you say is quite possible....
i run my server on hamachi, and when my internett i down, i fail my login and log in as ''player''. that username is OP
and since they haven't bought the game they can choose whatever name they want to right???
so if this is what they have been doing ( i personally know them so i think they would know about the 'player' thing )
i just ban the username player and deop all of them, in case they've given themselves op??

but i still don't understand how they could have given themselves unbreakable armor, if they just opped themselves...

 

Yup thats right, but even if you ban they can still come in with a diff username, find out there ip adress in your server console and type /banip [iphere]

 

well yeah, but as i said i personally know them and i want them to be playing on my server, just don't want them to cheat.

so i just deop'ed all of them and banned the username ''player'', i think that should be enough... i hope... -.-

 

Well they should just buy the game lol just dont leave your server up all the time and make sure no one uses your name

i'm almost always on the server myself, and there is just 6 people playing so. yeah.....
but i talked to the one who's cheating and they said, someone helped them with a program or something that gave them alot of stuff, also that it where possible to ban ME from my own server???

 

Then can ban you but you can just go in the console and unban your self, but tell them buy it now b4 beta runs out and the full game is released !

You dont need to. Port-forward port 25565, and give them your normal IP. Should work

Do what @Lolmewn said, he's right they can also connect without hamachi aslong as you have the port forwarded from your router to you PC. Then they just have to enter your (external) ip in Minecraft to connect to your server (I guess thats what @emericask8ur meant, though I'm not quite sure what he meant with "search bar" in the context of bukkit?!)

ok, but with hamachi you get a 'new' IP, how do i find my real IP x) (i'm norwegian, excuse my english xD, not so good to explain things xD)

 

No problem, my native language isn't english too (I am german), so I guess my english is not perfect either ^^ Try the following site, it will tell you your external IP:
http://www.getip.com/

Though this external IP may be changing once a day or something like that (depending on the type of internet connection you have and your provider), but most of the times it is constant and will not change.

But if it is changing you could try to register at a dynamic dns service to get an URL instead of an IP, for example there is www.no-ip.com it will automatically update your IP (if you have the client installed), so you don't have to worry about a changing IP and can instead just handout an URL to all of your friends (like your-minecraft-server.no-ip.com)

 

sounds like to much work just to let go of hamachi, so i think i'll just stick with that x)
my only problem is that they can change username whenerer they want, i guess i'll just ban, they're IP if they continue.

makes me really pissed x)

i would x) but then there would have been no minecraft for me, for at least a couple of weeks
and becuase of that it wouldn't be worth it

 

I mean you can type your ip in the url bar and get your wireless or wiredconnection settings, and you can port forward to make a server
