    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Skills in the base platform of Heroes
      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills
      • Adjustable through skills.yml or overwritten in classes.yml
    • Permission Skills
      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs
      • LOGGING - exp for jacking lumber

      • Allow bed healing for players to regenerate health in bed!

      • Server wide regen of mana - default is 5% mana regen every 5-6 seconds.

    Yes but it shows a nasty error if I try to create a parent of a parent. Also should I be able to create new parent trees for any classes I create? Because I get an error for that, and it just seems ever so fickle, i'm making one change at a time to see what is causing it.

    There's custom events for exp gains. You can access the parties and how entities cast spells too.

    I'm not sure if this has been proposed, but is there any way to make messages not spam as they do?
    For example, erase the last message (e.g. Gained 1 exp.) and sum the amount.

    This issue is something to do with how MC handles health - we're working on a fix - and a revamp of the entire damage/health system.

    Hey there, i've browsed the thread, and I can't seem to find anything on my specific problem, my skills folder is empty, no skills, nada, zip. Ingame when I try to list a class's skills, nothing pops up even when the code says it's supposed to pop up, and this is with a fresh download, no edits or anything, not sure if I missed a step or something.

    I had some problems with that when I started with the plugin. I think I solved it downloading the whole .zip from their page, which had all the skills in the folder (/skills). If it's not in that one, maybe in the "Download" link.
    I'm not sure which of them was it, but I'm sure there's a package with them inside :)

    How would i set it up if I wanted to give a job to a player only when they reached a certain class? Like only when a player reached class at parent - > parent - > child would they be able to get a job, also whenever I try to edit any of the following settings i get massive crashes:

    I apologize if this was asked before/mentioned somewhere in the op that I missed, but I have a question!

    When having multiple classes, such as a mage being able to choose from a wizard or a sorcerer, where can you configure which level he/she is able to choose the 2nd class at?

    Edit: Also, forgot to ask. The numbers pertaining to the duration of a skill/spell, is it by seconds? (ie: default config cooldown for 'Warrior' spell Taunt is 30000. <--Does that mean the cooldown is 30k seconds?)

    Yeah, too many pages already, I'm myself glad to start when it was only 10 pages and i have to review this thread everyday, things are moving fast, I like it.


    You set that in config.yml, at leveling: -->maxLevel: (max level is all we have to work with, a past post was replied with a possible release in future to allow changing class earlier than maxLevel. Don't know how much of a priority that is or how hard it is to do that, so we wait and be thankful for what we have so far.

    30k miliseconds which = 30 seconds for those not so good in math :p

    How do I work the shield skill. Air does 2 dmg, and I hit em with my fist it does 2 hp then 2 hp again with out the shield in his possession. I do not no how to set that up. How?

    Is there a way to make it so all the classes can use any armor?
    Including stuff like dirt blocks as helmets
    I have a plugin for that but it wont let me use it.

    Regarding the skills, I think they should be in "permitted-skills". Therefore, maybe you should try changing them :)
    On the other side, admin-only classes should be done with Permissions. The clue should be to allow Default as following:
    Code:
    - "heroes.classes.*"
    - "-heroes.classes.adminclassinlowercase"
    I'm not sure if that will be enough, just check :)

    i tried them in permitted skills and it said "skill (whatever skill it was) defined for (whatever class) is not found. also if the heroes.classes.adminclassinlowercase is a permission node where do i put it?
