    Hi,

Would it be possible to write a plugin that counts the number of mobs (enemy and peaceful) that are on the server? I'm wandering around my SMP world and haven't seen any mobs for ages, so I was wondering if they were there at all.

There could be a summary command that just says "there are xx peaceful mobs and xx enemy mobs", and a detailed command that actually lists the number and type of each mob, i.e. "5 chickens, 8 sheep, 3 wolves, 2 creepers, 7 spiders"

I hope someone can help with this request :)

    Thanks,

    Dan

Well to simply test if there are mobs you could use Worldguards /butcher command with a high radius... it will show how many mobs it killed... if no mobs are killed with a raduis of say 100000, then there are none ^^

If there are no mobs, the view-distance in your server.properties might be too low, I think it has to be at least 8 or even 10 for mobs to spawn.

I can second that. Had the view-distance in the server.properties set to 6 to avoid the:

"[WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded?"

and people were complaining that there were no mobs to be found, especially wolfs (using the Supernatural plugin).

After changing that value to 10, problem solved.
