    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

It does work but if you look closely it throws command codes where there should be any. Do /afk and look at /list or try something like/m without a parameter. Notice the ugly command codes?

  3. This is how i made it work with ColorMe and iChat.

I dont know if it matters or not...but i made the config.yml file read-only...cause it kept changing my values when i reloaded the plugin.
My texting is perfect this way.

    Code:
    globals:

Is there a world channel? like people who are in the nether can only chat to people that are ONLY in the nether and not in the normal world? because I have two worlds using the multiworld plugin for my friend and his cousin and I can see what their convosations are about. So does this support world channels?

    Redyugi

In the config file, there is an option under every channel called 'worlds'. Put the worlds you want in the brackets like so.
"worlds: [Nether, Test World]" or whatever

Works perfect for me on 835 with Permisions 3.1.6. You're doing it wrong.

Yeah that happened to me too. The problem is for some reason the computer downloads the file as a zip, you need to change the .zip ending to a .jar ending
When you download it choose all file types and then change the .zip to .jar

Bug? I can't speak in AlertSystem even though I have * node (I even added the herochat.admin node to be super sure) I also made myself a mod over AlertSystem but still nothing. I can use other herochat admin functions just not this... Help?

Yes it works. For me it ignored the world name aliases setup in Multiverse, and instead prefixed them based on the Folder Name for each world.
Working for me with 3.1.6 and 853.

For a person with a 'Mockery' Spoiler in their sig...

Would it be possible for you to add a {world} tag? Like on iChat? Because my server relies on that tag.
    Thanks.

Is there any possible way for console to join a channel, or maybe login a user to talk in a channel other than global from CONSOLE. Many times you have to be vague when talking to certain people as you dont know others to directly know what your talking about.

If console had a way to communicate via other channels this would be extremely epic!

The plugin saves its settings (over your changes) when being disabled. Shut down your server first, then change settings. I think there is also a reload command but I don't know it off the top of my head.

EDIT: Command is "/ch reload" Edit your config and do this instead of reloading the server plugins.

I'm having trouble setting default channel to local, it switches over to global.

    Any info on this?

I've got this running with recommended build 953, seems to work ok except that it's showing double prefixes for everybody in chat. I've been using group names custom colored in my permissions files to display who is in which group. So for example, it shows me as [SuperAdmin][SuperAdmin]:thiefzer0. Any idea why? I've been through my permissions files and herochat config and nothing has really changed majorly from the 1.6 configs. I'm stumped.

Disable Essentials if you have it. Usually the problem.

Not all of Essentials, just EssentialsChat. Just like if you run WorldGuard, disable EssentialsProtect.

On my server, I run Essentials, EssentialsSpawn, EssentialsGeoIP, HeroChat, WorldEdit, WorldGuard and EpicZones (among many others); if you make sure to only enable the features you need of each plugin and remove JARs which you don't need (i.e. EssentialsChat), you won't have any conflicts.

Edit your config to local and then /ch reload instead of restarting the server or disabling/enabling the HeroChat plugin using Bukkit's commands (i.e. /reload). If the HeroChat plugin is disabled it overwrites the config file. This is because you can create/remove channels in-game; saving when the plugin is disabled assures your changes aren't lost - if you want to force settings from a modified config, use /ch reload

Any chance of getting this updated? I don't want to use iChat as it doesn't have multichannel support. And I'm currently not using this as it causes my server to lag/crash. :(

I didn't have essentials chat running and have yet to find a fix but i implimented a little hotfix, just by forcing a prefix onto every player via permissions, using a ":" character. It comes directly after the healthbar in hero chat and leads into the their group and then name so it looks pretty good.

What kind of server are you running? HeroChat doesn't do anything that would cause lag, even on small servers. Also, 5.0 is in the works, but isn't ready for beta testing yet. I've been watching the experimental branch and DTheilke is working on it, even if he has been a bit quiet around here.

So I tried using this and when anyone on my server talks it shows up as [AdministratorNoob] or [TrustedNoob]. I just can't get rid of that extra 'Noob' at the end of my prefix. I even checked Permissions and there isn't anything extra added.

Edit* I'm having almost the same problem as thiefzer0

Okay. Well, my server is running that latest stable build of 1.7.3 that hasn't made it onto Jenkins yet (as far as I know).

    And my current plugin's are
    HeroChat (reinstalled, but still checking)
    DefaultCommands
    WorldEdit
    WorldGuard
    NoCheat
    AncientGates (outdated, but working)
    AdavancedWarning
    LogBlock
    MinecartMania suite
    SuperPickaxe
    Permissions
    BananaProtect

I've been testing about with HeroChat and DefaultCommands. Removing them both does make it go quicker, but tbh, they're essential.
Ill let you know if it continue's to play up. (It's fine since I reinstalled it last night.)

    @thiefzer0, 123abt: Show your configs.

@TehMushy: And disabling only DefaultCommands? I mean if I have the equation: 2 + 0 + 2 = 2 and I couldn't say: Could you fix, that this isn't correct? I removed +0 (HeroChat) and +2 (DefaultCommands) and it is correct again. I don't want to say, that DefaultCommands is the problem, but if you removing both, you couldn't differ which of both make it slower. Also it is maybe a problem, which only occurs in specific plugin compilations.

Why is this inactive? It is working at least for the second newest recommended build (didn't use any newer than CB b935) with Permissions 3.1! Okay, there are issues with those who can only edit the global Permissions files. I don't know how McMyAdmin works, but why need this plugin extra support for the McMyAdmin users? Isn't it the other way around, as HeroChat is working flawlessly with a well configured Permissions 3.1 plugin! So either McMyAdmin isn't creating correct permissions files or Permissions 3.1 has problem with global permissions.

Maybe somebody could enlighten me and tell me what McMyAdmin creates/modifies if you edit the Permissions. Are there any world specific files (which are necessary!) and what do they contain?
