    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Do you use CraftIRC as well?

  7. Offline

    samw8888

No but it looks like this: http://craftirc.googlecode.com/files/craftirclogo.png except "IRC" is replaced with "g" for global I assume...

I have narrowed it down to whatever channel is the focus, that's what it does it on.

What is a P2 Compat plugin? If it supports Permissions 2? Yep it does support Permissions 2.7.4 afaik.

I am having issues with this plugin, because whenever someone chats on the channel that is their focus, it shows up twice - once in the formatted way and once in the normal chat way. I have tried all that I know and I can't fix this!

    Please help!

Can you help me set up the CraftIRC connection? In my HeroChat config, the game-to-IRC and IRC-to-game fields both have "[]" in them. Nothing else. What "tag" do I put in there? I'm really confused but setting up CraftIRC was, according to people on the server, "the coolest thing I've ever done". Plawks help.

On the CraftIRC part of the fence, make sure the "tags" are set to 'global'.

Also, to prevent double chat, config the events like this:

    Code:
        game-to-irc:
          # If you use other chat plugins, you probably want to set cancelled-chat: true
          cancelled-chat: false
          all-chat: false
          joins: true
          quits: true
          kicks: false
          bans: false
        irc-to-game:
          all-chat: false
          joins: false
          parts: false
          quits: false
          kicks: false
          nicks: false
        irc-to-irc:
          all-chat: false
          joins: false
          parts: false
          quits: false

I do believe Essentials has a chat thing. Go through it's config.

EssentialsChat is not installed. Do you know how I would disable the chat thing?

Hi, i've seen some people asking for HeroChat to Hook Prefix from "Prefixer Plugin" (http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/ch...ixes-to-users-when-they-chat-860.4945/page-10)

So i've add 2 new method in HeroChat 4.10.3 that hook the Prefixer Plugin.

To use it just add {prefixer} in the channel config like this :

    Code:
    Global:
            color: WHITE
            nickname: g
            permissions:
                speak: []
                join: []
            message-format: '{color}[G]{prefixer}&f{prefix}{player}{suffix}{color} : '
            ...

    {prefixer} will be replaced by : [<yourprefix>]

So if you want this version of HeroChat juste download it while this link : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5NJ4XIWK

@DThielke : Can you add this change in HeroChat ?

    Source files : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MQZY151G

To find what i change just search "protocteur" in the source code.

    Thx

ps : sry for my english :p

If I understand that correctly, it "fixes" HeroChat so it automatically adds the group name as prefix like iChat does, without the need to configure tags to tell groups apart (besides colored name), right?

(So you wouldn't need to set prefix to '[&fMember] ')

Oh sorry, maybe i needed to explain exactly why i have done this "fixe". So :

On my server i use HeroChat & Permissions plugins to define player prefix. So with those 2 plugins i can define group prefix. This is usefull for exemple to display color of players according to their group (Admin, Member etc ..) when they talk on global channel.

But this plugins don't let you make custom prefix. So i found one that can let me define for each player a custom prefix (this one : http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/ch...ixes-to-users-when-they-chat-860.4945/page-10 )

Unfortunatly this plugin don't work with HeroChat, so what i've done is just make them working together.

So this "fix" is not interessting for all people who use HeroChat, it's just an answer for people who asked it.

I don't know how iChat work but my solution let me do thing like this :

    <channel nick> <prefix define by the plugin prefixer> <prefix from permissions> <playername> : <what the player says>

that give you in game :

    [G][Merchant]Protocteur : blablabla

where : [Merchant] is the custom prefix, and Protocteur is the permissions prefix with the playername.

The permissions prefix add the color to my name according to my group in permissions plugin and the custom prefix just show to other player i'm playing a Merchant.

Everything what here was, is bullshit and wasn't implemented already. I thought so.

@Protocteur I am pretty sure Herochat already does that, if you have Permissions set up. Although, from what I am hearing, 3.X isn't working too well.
It takes the prefix from the player first, and if the player doesn't have one, it takes the group prefix. So to do what you did, it'd be the prefix "[Merchant] &(whatever the symbol for red is)' The suffix would have to be '&f' (I think) to make it black again

Then in Global, it'd show "[G][Merchant] Protocteur: "

    @xZise ninja'd me. lol

Not directly: You couldn't define that HeroChat should use the user prefix. You could say “use prefix” (which means first found beginning by the user) or “use group prefix”. So this is my format at the moment:
    Code:
    {color}[{nick}] &f{prefix}{groupprefix}{player}{suffix}{color}:
The problem now: If the user has no userprefix, it will select the groupprefix twice :/ If you have only colors as group prefix, this is okay, but if you have also text, you have them doubled, which isn't very helpful.

So @DThielke could you please add the userprefix property. Afaik there is no difference at the Permissions versions. So this should be a simple change.

PS: Hmpf, why is your license by-nc-nd :( and your repository is heavily outdated, so I couldn't even create a pull request for this :(

We won't be taking requests or demands to add to HeroChat. Our primary focus is Heroes and HTTP at this point in time. When Dthielke finds time, he will update HeroChat with the features that we see fit.

I already know that, but i don't want to add 1 groups for each player. As i says i need the prefix to act as custom title. But a lot of them will be for one or two people (like king, an unkown traveler, a shaman etc ... theses title are used to show the player job, his fighting abilities, etc .. )

It's why i use a third plugin that give me the best solution.

And this is even more bad. So what now? I liked HeroChat and it is working great except this issue. But your license and your outdated repository makes it impossible for me, to implement it on my own, and send a pull request to you, so you have to do not so much (okay actually I (couldn') don't know how complex it is to add an value, maybe it is so easy, that it is faster to add this, as to merge a pull request).

    Fabian

If your group prefix is only a color code, you could use, my solution.
