    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.
    • New Global CreatorDefault / GroupDefault / ResidenceDefault flag sections to help clean up the Groups section, and remove redundant flags.

    e_zach

he means in the global flags set build to false
    e.g.
    Code:
    Flags:
Global: #these are default for all worlds unless specified below, they can be overridden per group
                use: true
build: FALSE # this line here!
                ignite: false
                firespread: false
                damage: true
                creeper: false
                tnt: false
                pvp: true
edit: highlighted use instead of build

you could always try to manually fix the file... but if it's mostly NULL's there's not much u can do.

I am trying to create a large residence, but I keep getting messages saying that my area size is not with my allowed limits. The limits are set to 999 north/south, 999 east/west, 127 up/down. Another user is having the same problem. It worked just fine before the updates. How might the admin and I fix this?

Tried changing the limits to 9999, but it made no difference. [3]

it may be the 127, i have to fix this myself, there's 128 blocks high in a chunk, also do u have residence.admin node added? (if ur using permissions) that i believe ignores any limits

    Daniel Few

    @ClickCraft
Yes residence.admin ignores any limited so if you want to be able bypass any restrictions have this in your permissions.
WARNING: WITH THIS NODE IT LETS YOU ALSO ACCESS/DESTROY BLOCKS IN ANY RESIDENCE. SO DONT GIVE IT TO PLAYERS YOU DONT WANT ACCESS TO PROTECTED AREAS :D

I can not even create a residence.
select the points, I do /res select vert
It expanded into the sky and bedrock
And when I write the "/res create home" shows that message
"area size is not allowed with my limits"

If I do not /res select vert, it works, can protect the terrain
But when I write select vert, not working

    Sry for my english :X

that's probably the height restriction of 127, try setting it to something like 256, and see if that works

    EDIT: the up/down value
EDIT 2: also try changing the max/min heights

Hey i found something interesting. I dont know if it's a been report.
Player can place half block on a half block in a -build Zone. However, they cant remove placed half block or remove existing half block. Any type of placed half block will always become a stone half block.

    I hope greifer doesn't read this :p

it's an invalid cast from the 'BukkitContrib' plugin (i have no idea what plugin that is) i'd post it on their thread

You only need to create your selection within your main zone and tape /res subzone <subzone name>.
remember to remove a subzone you need tape /res remove <mainzone>.<subzone> instead of /res remove <subzone>.

After that, you can assign the subzone to a player using this :
    /resadmin setowner <mainzone>.<subzone> <player name>

    Bye!

Is it possible, to add iconomy-support for the "/res tp" command?
So that a residence-owner can set costs for the teleport to his residence?

The Selection tool stops working randomly - it takes a reload of the server to fix it.
Any ideas why? The residences keep working, and the commands do too, but the selection tool just stops. It doesn't select points.

    Heres my residence config: http://pastebin.com/KLChZ5yh

    Res: 2.1.4 CB: 818
This never happened before the MC update, Im not sure why it is now and I cant seem to find any errors.

Thank you so much for adding a healing flag like I asked! Your great. Two questions, what kind of support does this have for realshop? Also, any chance of adding support for showcase plugin or would the support have to be on their end? Thanks again!

v2.2 is out, and adds per Residence Blacklist/Ignorelists which do the following:

Ignorelists allow anyone even without Residence permissions, to destroy a certain block type. So you could set up a "Foresting" area where only trees can be destroyed by setting the "build" flag to false for everyone and then adding "LOG" to the ignorelist.

Blacklists prevent anyone even with Residence permission from placing a block in a Residence. So if you wanted to prevent anyone from placing sand in your residence for whatever reason, you could blacklist it and no one could place it even with build permission.

Finally, I also added global Ignorelists which do the same as per Residence ignorelists, except globally. So you can set global build to false, except for certain block types (once again, maybe forests or something).

The wiki should hopefully have this info soon :)

Hmm, that's odd.... I'll look into it as that does seem like it could be kinda serious lol... :p Don't guess you know if it did that before the MC 1.6 update? Could be a new bukkit bug after the update.

Hmm, thats odd. But you can still select using /select command? It may be some weird bukkit issue, I know they were having a bunch of trouble with 1.6 at one point, but nonetheless I'll try to do some testing on my end as well to see if its a Residence issue.

Yea, could probably do that. What I actually should do is add a custom bukkit event for it so that another plugin could do something like that also. :)

RealShop economy should be supported, but I'm not sure how well tested it is. Give it a try and see :) I'll check out the showcase plugin.

I'm also having trouble with using the tool for WorldEdit. Is anyone else having trouble with any of the selection tools?
And yes, /select does work, but it'd be nice if it could select where you're looking like WE. Would that be a future possibility?

    Code:
    # Enable / Disable Residence's Economy System.
        EnableEconomy: true
        # The economy system to use (iConomy, MineConomy, Essentials, BOSEconomy, and RealEconomy supported).
        EconomySystem: iConomy

     # The cost, per block, of buying a Residence or adding a area to it.
              BuyCost: 5

That's my settings, but I don't loose 5 iConomy money when I buy anything?
Or is that for buying a premade residence, or just making your own selection and buying?

The Set-up and Confiuration page on the Residence Wiki is now mainly up-to-date.
If you find any part hard to follow or need more information, please post here with details on what you want changed and I'll try and improve it.

Thanks for the very hard work on the support side of this! I said it before, but cant mention it enough. (and thats despite me never having any problems with the problem :D I just love the fact how you support it)

    @Zeroi9
This is for when this group 'buys' as in 'creates' a Residence. NOT purchases one on the market.

EnableEconomy: true - all ok there
BuyCost: 5 - this means that when this group use the selection tool and 'create' a residence using /res create, it counts how many blocks are inside that area and charges 5 per block.

    Hope this helped,

    Thanks for the comment :)
Nice to know it helps people. I actually hadn't updated in a while as I've been busy but my plan now is to get the wiki fully up to date for v2.2. I'm just trying to help because it's such a useful plug-in and bekvon works hard enough on the code ;)
    Thanks again,

    @bekvon

So, thanks for the continued work on this.

    Quick question/request:

As others have mentioned, renting currently is a bit of a meh thing, as you only get to..well..have a part of a residence but arent able to do anything. How hard would it be to enable a per-residence settings thing of *which* parts the renter can change? So I could allow, for a specific residence subzone, that when rented the person that rented can access chests and place blocks, but not change anything else. It's a bit like the 'lease' permissions, but more restricted.

Hope you got what I mean, if not, dont worry :D
