Enhanced beacon functionality

This was requested a couple of years ago but I think it would still be a very useful plugin if the functionality is possible, especially the beam redirect part. It would be nice to be able to route beacon beams around things instead of having to poke holes in things directly above the block to allow the beam to pass through.

timtower is correct. The reason why you can join a Bukkit server without downloading any mods is Bukkit simply lets the server respond to basically anything that can happen in the game. No client things are added, mob behavior is the same, and everything works exactly like in vanilla, but things can just be cancelled or modified by plugins. What you're requesting is new content to the game, so I advise you put it on minecraftforums or minecraftsuggestions.

 

Maybe just a mod to change everything (non air/torch/etc.) in the beams path to glass?

 

@timtower Would it be possible to set blocks in the way to glass (as @dhinely said) but then use packets or something to make the blocks look like what they were before? Something like that?

 

Oh right, beacon light is client side too :/ Maybe then just use packets to make anything in the way glass?

 

Is it possible to make a beacon beam without a beacon in a plugin? And is it possible to make horizontal beams? If so then this plugin can be accomplished, else it can't
