Hello! Me and my friend want to play on my server. He told me how to make one so I followed the directions. It worked. But when i used ipv4 ip for my server config. It worked but when I joined and it said [INFO] Disconnecting /10.0.0.122:51122: Protocol Error [INFO] 10.0.0.122:51122 lost connection What I really want to know is. What Ip do I put in? The Ip from IpChicken? or the Ipv4 address And also. When I put the ip i get from Ip Chicken and the port 25565 it says "Perhaps a server is already running on that port" And I dont know what IP i put in. And I portforwarded with UTorrent. Also why cant I join the server? My friend cant join either
@SSSSSSTHE In your server.properties leave the ip blank unless you know what you are doing. I am assuming you don't know what you are doing.
Do I leave the port 25565 or leave it blank as well? And also. I kept the Port and the ip blank and it said: Perhaps theres a server running on that port?
@SSSSSSTHE You want to keep the port default unless you already have something running on that port(Which is unlikely). So Leave IP blank then leave the port the default 25565.
@SSSSSSTHE What version of bukkit are you running? If you are using a "1.8 Version" - you probably downloaded a beta 1.8 build
@MisterErwin I am using craftbukkit 1.7.2 Guys. Also what IP does my friend use? ipv4 or one from ipchicken ??? EDIT by Timtower: merged posts
if your friend is using the same router as you then he will need to use the IPV4. If he is not on the same router as you he will use the www.ipchicken.com IP
My friend used the IpChicken IP but he can't join still we dont have the same router though and we tried putting the port :25565 but it still didn't work.
@SSSSSSTHE Well you have to port forward. Have you done this yet? The provided link shows how. Also, you will connect to localhost and your friend will connect to the WAN IP (the IpChicken one).
@nverdier I portforwarded with Utorrent. 1st I opened UTorrent then i clicked settins, prefences then connection. I changed the port to 25565 then clicked apply then ok
No that's not port forwarding. That's just connection from that application. You need to go to your web browser and connect to your router. To do this you need to type in "192.168.1.1" or "10.0.0.1" and the default login is "admin", "password". Then click on port forwarding and but in all of the ports "25565" and for the internal IP put in your LAN ip.
I told you... I'll try to make it more clear: The username is after this colon: admin The password is after this colon: password Also, if you want me to see your reply, Tahg or quote me or I won't get any alerts! @SSSSSSTHE Look on your router, it is normally on there. No he's not trying to get on the network he's trying to login to the router setup, which isn't usually on the router. @nverdier Default usernames and passwords are often different between router brands. You can use routerpasswords.com or something to find the proprietary default login info.
Yea. Most common is admin & password so I was just going to say that and if it didn't work for him then I would tell him some other options.
DUDE. That isn't my password for my router. I can't find the password for my router cause My dad changed it and I dont know how to find it again @nverdier
