command.getName()

In the support section, we were having a nice discussion about the necessity of command.getName() checks in the executor method. I was wondering, is it necessary to do command.getName() checks if you're using a method for each command? Is it better practice to perform the check? Or is it completely redundant?

Also, if it is unnecessary, was it written in the wiki assuming that the user would be using the same executor for each command?
