My idea is that there should be a plugin where you can mark a square (like cuboid) and enter a command like: /biome snow /biome dessert And the marked place turn into a snow biome place! I ask for the plugin because i want snow in that place i have my house... Would be very nice if somebody can develop this.
Hm... why not? This would be a very helpful plugin, because I have a desert-city, but it's snowing there!
But if you change something in the world file(s) it should work, schouldn't it? Maybe you have to restart the server, but that's ok for me.
I concur, biomes are based on server seed IFAIK and you cannot change that. There are plugins that do modify biomes, BUT people reported that although those biomes LOOK different they still are the old type. Example: You have a desert biome, but a plugin adds trees and grass -> looks like a forest biome BUT is still is desert in the save file, so when weather comes, there will be no rain, since it is effectively a desert, only looking like a forest.
What we need is Mod that would change Biome DATA in save file - that would allow someone to terraform parts of his maps and then small change in file and weather is right for biome - like making forest in desert - changing biome data in save file - making it rain there The big questions is how biomes are saved if save file and how to modyfy it - i looked a bit but apparently noone but notch knows or they just aren't taking ;p
I still feel like it's not possible to modify the seed, because rather than saved data it's ALL generated from the seed. That's why stuff like //regen works in WorldEdit.
Ok so my second idea is, that there should be a mod, i can set (cuboid) where should fall snow/rain/nothing. Maybe this is possile. I hope...
What about melting snow? An admin can set the speed of which snow melts. I'm stuck with snow all throughout my town, spawn point etc even though there was no snow there before 1.5
Snow i sonly melted by a lightsource. Of course you could make a plugin that removes snow on command on something
Weather depends on biome, therefore you can't change a snowy area to rain since it's still a cold biome. Then we are back on square one, changing the biome of an area.
But i don't want melt snow, i want snow falling over my village, although it's on a forest biome. And it isn't possible to "simulate" snow?: That means to look like snowfall (when its original raining), remove the rain sounds, to freeze water and get snow on the floor. That sounds like a plugin i think...
Oh, then no. You see there is only weather on/off. And snow/rain differentiation is done based on a biome. You could add ice manually and snow too, but that would be immensely hard on a server I would think, since you'd have to check the whole chunk and all, that, but it's doable.
